Design and evolve Mastras product UX and design system across Mastra Studio and Cloud. Research interaction patterns, prototype in Figma, collaborate with product and front-end teams, and apply AI tooling to speed design-to-code workflows.

Mastra has a highly capable engineering team, and our pace of development has sometimes meant that design has had to catch up. A design team of just two people has supported everything we have shipped so far. Now, we are expanding the team to bring greater care and craft to our products, user journeys, and design system. We are looking for a talented product designer to help establish Mastra as one of the leading design-driven software companies.

What you will do

  • Develop a deep understanding of the Mastra framework and platform, including how different features work together and which interaction patterns best support each use case.

  • Continuously research emerging interaction patterns, developer tools, and best-in-class products to inform your work.

  • Think from the perspective of a developer and identify the highest-impact opportunities to improve the user experience across Mastra Studio and the Mastra Cloud platform.

  • Work closely with the product team to understand the roadmap, clarify requirements, and address the most important user problems.

  • Build and maintain a robust design system in Figma, working closely with the front-end team to ensure consistency across Storybook and the implemented product.

  • Explore how AI and emerging design tools can bring Figma closer to code, accelerate prototyping, and reduce the gap between design and implementation.

About you

  • You have at least four years of experience designing software products. Alternatively, you have a strong track record in an adjacent discipline, such as brand or web design, and have recently transitioned into product and UX design.

  • You have experience building and maintaining design systems. Mastra’s design system is lean and lightweight, but it supports many surfaces and needs to evolve quickly.

  • You are comfortable prototyping in Figma and have a basic understanding of AI products, HTML, and CSS.

  • You are familiar with developer-facing products and can quickly put yourself in the position of developers building AI agents.

  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Much of our work happens asynchronously, so clarity and precision are essential.

  • You respond well to constructive feedback, adapt your thinking, and contribute to a shared standard of design quality.

  • You can distill complex problems, competing requirements, and feedback into clear, practical solutions.

  • You have a critical mindset, take initiative, and show leadership by identifying opportunities and proposing thoughtful, original solutions.
