About the Team

The Trust & Safety Design Team is critical to Affirm's mission, building experiences that protect our customers from fraud, ensure secure authentication, and manage and verify their identity across our product surfaces. We navigate complex and sensitive problem spaces, focusing on creating secure, seamless, and intuitive financial experiences that build trust and confidence in every interaction. You will join a team passionate about cutting-edge fraud prevention, identity solutions, and secure authentication, all while prioritizing a customer-centric approach.

What You'll Do

As a Product Designer II on the Trust & Safety team, you will play a vital role in designing and implementing solutions that uphold the integrity of our platform and safeguard our users. You will:

  • Design and execute end-to-end flows and product experiences for web/mobile applications that shape our trust and safety initiatives, including authentication, identity verification, and fraud prevention.

  • Apply foundational design skills to defined tasks, producing artifacts that meet Affirm’s high standards for design quality and business objectives.

  • Utilize basic design frameworks and structured thinking to address project goals, clearly articulating the rationale behind your design decisions.

  • Proactively seek feedback from your manager, peers, and collaborators to refine designs and identify areas for personal and professional growth.

  • Partner closely with product management, engineering, and research teams to understand complex problems and translate ambiguous requirements into clear, actionable design solutions.

  • Advocate for the user by leveraging research and analytics, demonstrating how insights have improved the user experience, particularly in sensitive security and identity flows.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing clear and concise updates on tasks and ensuring your work aligns with broader team and company initiatives.

  • Contribute to and work within our existing design system, ensuring consistency and scalability of solutions across the platform.

  • Leverage AI and emerging technologies to amplify design outputs and increase efficiency, while consistently maintaining our high bar for quality and user experience.


What We Look For

We are seeking an empathetic and experienced Product Designer II who is eager to tackle challenging problems in a fast-paced environment.

  • 3+ years of experience in consumer product/user experience design-focused roles, with a portfolio demonstrating thoughtful design solutions for complex problems.

  • This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • A strong, thoughtful approach to the craft of design informed by user needs, with an emphasis on creating delightfully simple and intuitive experiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to turn ambiguous direction into clear conceptual solutions, solving for user needs and business objectives with limited guidance.

  • Passion for authentication, identity, and fraud prevention best practices, with a desire to learn and contribute to this critical domain.

  • Self-sufficient and proactive in seeking out feedback early and often from leadership and peers to drive continuous improvement.

  • Familiarity with working with and contributing to a design system.

  • Ability to foster an inclusive environment and contribute positively to team and cross-functional partnerships.

  • A demonstrated portfolio showcasing your strategic thinking across multiple product experiences and successful delivery of in-app/web solutions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with or a strong passion for AI technology and its application in enhancing design workflows and product experiences.

Pay Grade - J

Equity Grade - 6
Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills.
Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents.)
USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $130,000 - $170,000
USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $115,000 - $155,000
