Your future team Atlassian is looking for Product Design Interns to join our growing Design teams in Australia, India and the US. Join Atlassian as an intern and spend your internship having an impact on how millions of users collaborate and use software. The most amazing thinkers-like NASA rocket scientists and Tesla engineers-are coming to us for solutions. We're in the business of developing software to help teams everywhere get amazing ideas on the ground and into the world. Sound like an exciting place to start your career? Here you'll be encouraged to use your imagination and try new things. You'll join a team that is smart and very direct. We challenge each other to improve our work, learn, and ask hard questions. We're dedicated to Agile methodology and are big believers in 'lean' (which means we don't do documentation for documentation's sake). We know the importance of validating assumptions about users and use several types of testing to figure out whether we're right (or wrong). Our bottom line is improving our user's experience-no matter what.
Unfortunately, we do not offer U.S. work visa sponsorship to F-1/OPT, J-1/TN, or H-1B student graduates at this time.
What you'll do

  • Gain valuable exposure to the design and product development process by working on a real Atlassian project.
  • Be mentored by our experienced designers in shaping your internship outcomes.
  • Experience Atlassian's culture through our many companywide and cross-regional programs.

Your background

  • Able to commit to a 12 week full-time (40hrs/week) program during Summer 2025
  • Currently enrolled full-time in a 4-year bachelors or 2-year masters degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship, graduating by June 2026
  • Experience with user-focused design
  • Demonstrate the ability to plan while juggling multiple simultaneous projects
  • Experience collaborating with team members, like engineers and product managers, and other designers
  • Please note: At this time, this role is only open to entry-level candidates with less than a year of professional experience (this does not include internships/co-ops)

Within each range, base pay is ultimately determined based on your skills, expertise, and experience. What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
