Benable is an early-stage mission-driven startup that has raised $14M in funding. We were just ranked the #1 startup in Consumer & Commerce by The Information, the top outlet for tech news, in its annual ranking of the top 50 most promising startups in the world. Already over 300,000 people from 150+ countries use Benable every month. Every 2 seconds, someone shares a recommendation on the platform.

Benable’s team culture is all about bringing together a small, tight-knit group of super talented people to create something magical. We are now looking to bring on our first Product Delivery Lead, and the role is so important that we're considering it to be part of our founding team.

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Benable is a registered Public Benefit Corporation, which means that we are a for-profit company, but also have an obligation to drive positive social impact. Our focus is on strengthening the social fabric by making it easier for people to help one another.

We are building the Word of Mouth platform – the place to find and share things you love. Whatever it is you’re looking for – products, services, local professionals, a place to stay, etc. – Benable makes it easy to find & share those recommendations.

We were originally founded in the D.C. area, but have a remote culture and we get the whole team together a few times per year. Our founder was previously a founding team member of a San Francisco startup that raised $60M in venture capital, grew to 300 employees, and brought in $250M+ in annual revenue.

THE ROLE

As the Product Delivery Lead, you’re the engine driving the delivery of our product roadmap at Benable. You ensure the things we decide to build get shipped with incredible pace, great quality, and in a way that energizes the team and makes us better every cycle.

You’re responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of features and product initiatives. You’re not the one devising what we build next or partnering with design to create new features from scratch. You plug in immediately after that. You grab the baton when things are 80% baked and own the rest of the way.

Specifically, you:

  • Work closely with our designers to get things fully fleshed out – tightening UX flows, obsessing over edge cases, polishing final details, and making sure the experience feels magical.
  • Turn that work into crisp, organized, unambiguous direction for engineers – specs, tickets, priorities, etc.– so engineers feel insanely well set up to build fast.
  • Partner with Engineering & QA to build incredibly quickly and with quality– unblocking decisions, clarifying tradeoffs, chasing down answers, and making sure issues get caught and fixed.
  • Partner with Analytics to measure and learn from what we ship – ensuring we’re looking at adoption, usage, issues, and outcomes, and feeding those insights back into how we design and build the next iteration.

Sometimes you’ll be leading huge, complex epics. Other times you’ll be tagged in tons of small issues and tasks. In both cases, you keep everything organized, prioritized, and humming along. Most importantly: from the moment you grab the baton to the moment something ships, you’re injecting pace and urgency at every step. Your “resting speed” will become the speed of our whole team, and a core part of your job is constantly helping us move faster, finding smart shortcuts, and keeping things unblocked.

You’ll report directly to Benable’s Founder & Head of Product and work closely with everyone on the team – design, engineering, analytics, community, etc. You’ll sit at the center of how product gets built here. When you take something on, people feel both calmer and more energized at the same time – they know things are under control, they know what’s happening, and they’re excited to do their best work with you driving the process.

WHO YOU ARE

  • You have 4+ years of relevant experience. This could be in Product Management, QA, Engineering, etc. The idea is that you have several years of experience being in and around product delivery. You’ve been up close and personal with the process of shipping features at a fast-moving company.
  • You’re super organized and have great attention to detail. You can track a million different things at once. You can bounce around different tasks seamlessly, while also being able to hone in laser sharp on tiny details and nuances. Things don’t fall through the cracks with you. You’re on it, and always have been. You have an innate instinct for organizing chaotic situations and are the most reliable person you know.
  • You thrive in fast-paced environments and are excited about joining a startup. The pace of this early stage isn’t for everyone. New startups are all about moving at breakneck speed, iterating continuously based on user feedback, working through ambiguity and changing priorities, and figuring things out as we go. If those things excite you, you’re going to love this role. Importantly, you need to be at a place in your career where you’re ready to dive fully into a job that will require an exceptional level of commitment and work from you.
  • You’re analytical and have technical chops. If numbers make you uncomfortable (i.e. diving into data, doing analysis, etc) then this isn’t the right role for you. In this role, you’ll be part of deeply analytical conversations and also need to run your own analyses from time to time. Bonus points if you know SQL, although as long as you’re a fast learner, we can quickly train you up to a sufficient level if not. Additionally you’ll be part of highly complex technical conversations (e.g. engineers weighing pros and cons of various approaches) and those types of conversations should be enjoyable to you.
  • You make everyone around you better. You’ve got that X factor – people love being around you and working with you. You’re a driven self-starter with great communication skills. You’re kind, empathetic, and care deeply. Your excitement and drive are contagious. You lift the whole team up, and have a quality that makes people around you want to do their best work.

WHAT WE’RE OFFERING

We offer competitive salaries, a generous equity package, full health benefits, and a flexible remote work culture - with a few full team meetups throughout the year. We’re incredibly proud of the small tight-knit team we’re building. We have a happy, high-productivity, low-stress, no ego, do-whatever-it takes, fun culture. And you’re going to love your job - helping build up what may become one of the world’s most important communities.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
