This role will also determine dimensional constraints and geometric tolerances required for proper clearances and fits while maximizing manufacturing capabilities and will execute projects

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

The PDE Designer supports the engineering function to perform the design, test, or integration required to define and support assigned components, assemblies or systems that meet business standards and program/product requirements within the PDE scope.

·  With guidance, creates definition of parts, modules, and assemblies in the form of 2D cross sections, 2D drawings, 3D reusable models in a linked model environment, tolerance stack-ups, and various other electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, quality and inspection within expected cost, quality and schedule
·  Document and communicate results of technical data generated
·  Participate on teams assigned to address specific initiatives
·  Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
·  Effectively collaborate between organizations to assure part design compatibility
·  Export tag applicable definition created by self and responsible purchased services based on jurisdiction and exportability classifications
·  Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies & Procedures, Engineering Standards, Product Definition Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements;
·  Maintain quality of the projects and ensure schedule requirements are met
·  May be directed to apply for security clearance in order to work on government secured program with varying ranges of security clearance.
·  Perform all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or a High School diploma and 4 years of relevant experience)

Desired Characteristics:

- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Experience with engine systems including module and engine-level assembly drawings, installation drawings, key dimension drawings and interface control drawings
- Working knowledge of Engine Design Control Structure and ability to construct and manage engine cross-section representations across the engineering team
- Stack-up analysis skills to effectively tolerance system-level hardware features to ensure proper clearances and fits for performance
- In-depth knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes and capabilities, assembly, and test procedures
- Unigraphics 3D solid modeling computer aided design (CAD) skills
- Working knowledge of UG NX and Teamcenter
- Ability to manage electronic data files in a structured database environment
- Familiarity with sketcher-based design methodology
- Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing as it relates to individual parts and overall assemblies (ANSI Y145)
- Web based knowledge, word processing, and electronic spreadsheet / presentation skills;
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to perform in a team environment, across functions, and with suppliers and revenue sharing partners;
- Configurations and / or controls design hardware experience
- Working knowledge of software that ensures proper clearances of engine components

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
