The Role

As a Principal System Analyst in Quantitative Research and Investments Technology, you blend investment management and technical expertise with a passion for delivering results. You are the end-to-end gatekeeper of the team mission, strategy, and tactical execution associated with delivering on strategic priorities. In an agile structure, you will partner with other Fidelity leaders to influence the broader strategic decisions, roadmaps, and resource requirements, set and refine the mission, and bring together a team to execute on specific product features. You will ensure alignment on the 'what' and 'when' work is to be performed through ongoing planning and prioritization of a product backlog. You will enable team members to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation and learn from failures while celebrating success. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to ensure you bring the latest thinking to your role.

  • Defining, refining, and communicating the teams’ mission and roadmap to empower and establish team and partner support and alignment.
  • Anticipating, discovering through ongoing interaction with, and prioritizing client / partner needs to serve as their voice and guide execution of the team
  • Defining, evaluating, and communicating results against acceptance criteria
  • Inspecting and evaluating progress, and removing impediments
  • Measuring performance against established objectives that deliver on agreed upon business, technology, and people results
  • Collaborating and coordinating with Technical Leads and Project Managers to establish team capacity and capability and enabling team member growth, development, and learning.
  • Making informed trade-off decisions to strike the right balance between quality, cost, and timelines
  • Scaled up ideas which would further business objectives and capabilities

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree (or above) in either Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Information Systems, Mathematics or Finance related field; CFA / CFP designation or post-graduate degree in finance or a related field a plus
  • 6 plus years of proven experience in end-to-end technology solution delivery
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining dynamic products and solutions.
  • Financial services experience, preferred.
  • Jira and Jira Align experience preferred.
  • Experience in Asset Management industry is preferred.
  • Take a data-focused approach to understanding customer needs, translate strategic objectives into action, and prioritize to improve value delivered
  • Grasp sophisticated product features and break them into clear and concise stories with well-defined business value and acceptance criteria and optimally communicate these
  • Have deep understanding of the industry landscape around Quant research space with focus on creative solutioning approach to build quantitative investing platforms
  • Capable of leading, influencing, and motivating colleagues without formal authority, and have a track record of building high-performing teams
  • Continuously improve and encourage an agile way of working
  • Establish and maintain unquestioning relationships as you work multi-functionally across Fidelity to deliver business outcomes and seek out the expertise of colleagues to advise on your approach
  • Intellectually curious and model a culture of continuous learning, mentoring, and coaching
  • Committed to developing a balance of technology and non-technology skills to fully appreciate the broad needs of our customers
  • Proven experience with minimum viable product definition and product backlog management
  • Adept at detecting scope changes and raising issues

The Team

You work in partnership with the Quantitative Research Investments stakeholders, other Product Leaders, Project managers, and Technology Leaders aligned to your team. By demonstrating and promoting Fidelity and agile leadership behaviors, you sustain and evolve our innovative agile culture.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.

The base salary range for this position is $89,000-$180,000 per year.  

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
