KBR is seeking a Principal System Engineer/Enterprise Architect to lead the development and maintenance of a model-based IT enterprise architecture spanning Australia, the UK, and the US. You will work with enterprise architects, technical teams, and business partners to define model views, gather essential data, and translate complex IT architectures into clear, actionable models. This role also oversees the optimization of engineering applications that support project delivery, fostering innovation and continuous improvement across global operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a model-based IT enterprise architecture spanning Australia, the UK, and the US to support global project delivery.
  • Collaborate with IT Enterprise Architects to define model views, gather essential data, and ensure architecture accuracy and usability.
  • Guide and mentor partners unfamiliar with modeling, translating complex IT architectures into clear, structured models.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams including content providers, consumers, developers, engineers, and business analysts—to align technical solutions with business needs.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement to enhance system performance and overall architecture quality.

Basic Qualifications:

Citizenship & Clearance: Must be a US Citizen. Must have a TS/SCI Clearance with a CI Polygraph or be able to obtain and maintain.

Education & Experience:

  • B.S. Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 8–12 years of prior relevant experience
  • OR Masters with 6–10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Technical Expertise:

  • Proficient in Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and Model-Based Systems Engineering, with proven experience translating concepts into SysML or UML.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical writing, oral briefings, and executive-level products.
  • Ability to consider IT architecture issues from many different perspectives.
  • Passion for staying up to date with industry trends and advancements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years of experience working with or in the Intelligence Community (IC).
  • SysML Model Builder Intermediate or SysML Model Builder Advanced certification.
  • Experience analyzing compliance with an IT Enterprise Architecture.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering tools (e.g., MagicDraw, Rational Rhapsody, Cameo, Genesys, etc.).

Travel Requirements: Less than 20%

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours with the ability to work variable hours with global teams

Location: Must reside in the U.S.. Preferred that candidates reside near/around Houston, TX.

Additional Notes: The selected applicant may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Basic Compensation: $112,700-169,000. The salary range posted is based on the national average. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s location, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
