🌟 Your Impact at Lila
As a Principal Robotics Engineer – Computer Vision, you will lead the design and deployment of perception systems that power our intelligent robots. You’ll own the vision pipeline—from sensor selection and calibration to detection, segmentation, object recognition.... Your work will be essential to enabling high-reliability perception in complex, real-world environments. You will collaborate across robotics, systems architecture, and machine learning teams to define and deliver robust, production-ready vision systems that enable our platforms to act intelligently in the world.
🛠️ What You'll Be Building
- Lead the architecture and implementation of our robotics computer vision stack
- Design and deploy perception algorithms for 3D reconstruction, object detection, pose estimation, visual tracking, and scene understanding
- Select and integrate vision sensors (RGB, depth, stereo, LiDAR) and define calibration workflows
- Collaborate with other engineers to integrate perception outputs into real-time robot decision-making
- Optimize algorithms for runtime efficiency on embedded and edge compute platforms
- Benchmark and improve the robustness of vision systems in dynamic, unstructured environments
- Guide and mentor junior engineers and researchers
- Stay ahead of the state of the art in academic and industry computer vision, and bring relevant techniques into production
- Contribute to roadmap and long-term technical direction of robotics perception
🧰 What You’ll Need to Succeed
- PhD or Master’s in Computer Vision, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in deploying computer vision systems in robotics or production environments
- Experience with visual serving and perception for manipulation
- Deep expertise in classical and learning-based computer vision techniques
- Experience building end-to-end perception pipelines for real-time robotic systems
- Proficiency with tools like OpenCV, ROS2, PyTorch/TensorFlow, and C++/Python
- Hands-on experience with 3D geometry, SLAM, structure-from-motion, and camera/LiDAR calibration
- Strong systems thinking—comfortable debugging issues across the entire stack
- Familiarity with multi-sensor fusion (IMU, LiDAR, depth, vision)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
