Who We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for a freelance UX/UI Designer to drive the creation of engaging, high-converting shopping experiences on Therabody.com. You’ll work hands-on across the full purchase journey—product discovery, browsing, cart, checkout, and post-purchase—translating briefs and business goals into thoughtful, user-centered designs. This is a collaborative, execution-focused role where you’ll partner with our product, engineering, ecommerce, and brand teams to ship work that looks great and performs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end design of the Therabody.com shopping experience across product detail pages, collection and category pages, search and discovery, cart, checkout, and post-purchase — for a global, multi-market storefront.
  • Set the ecommerce design direction: define the UX patterns, interaction standards, and quality bar that web PMs and engineers build against.
  • Frame the problem before designing the solution — synthesize analytics, session replay, research, and merchandising input into a clear point of view on where the experience is losing customers and what to do about it.
  • Partner with the product and analytics teams to build and prioritize an experimentation roadmap; design the variants, define what a win looks like, and read the results honestly — including when your design lost.
  • Extend and steward Therabody’s design system for commerce surfaces: contribute reusable components, document usage, and eliminate one-off patterns rather than adding to them.
  • Work directly with front-end engineers on specs, handoff, and design QA — you are accountable for what actually ships, not just what was designed.
  • Design within the realities of our commerce platform (Shopify), and make deliberate trade-offs between what is ideal, what is buildable, and what is worth building now.
  • Bring design into scoping and roadmap conversations early, so that sequencing, feasibility, and customer impact are weighed together rather than after the fact.
  • Run lean, fast research and usability testing to validate direction — and know when a five-user test is enough and when it isn’t.
  • Raise the level of design practice across the team through critique, mentorship, and example.
About You
  • 7+ years of product or UX design experience, with deep, demonstrable focus on ecommerce — ideally DTC, consumer hardware, or subscription commerce.
  • A history of leading significant design work as an individual contributor — setting direction, aligning partners, and raising the quality bar through craft and clear thinking.
  • A portfolio that shows real ecommerce depth: product pages, discovery and comparison flows, cart and checkout — with the reasoning, constraints, and outcomes behind the work, not just the final screens.
  • Expert in Figma, including building and maintaining component libraries, variables, and design systems at scale. Fluent with AI-assisted design tooling and clear-eyed about where it accelerates work and where it produces plausible-looking noise.
  • Comfortable working in analytics and behavioral tools — GA4, FullStory, or similar — well enough to pull your own data, form a hypothesis, and defend it.
  • Deep familiarity with Shopify or comparable commerce platforms, and a practical understanding of their UX constraints, theme and app ecosystem, and checkout limitations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication. You can walk an executive audience through a recommendation, the trade-offs you considered, and the risks you accepted — and hold your position under scrutiny.
  • Exposure to conversational or AI-assisted shopping experiences, product finders, or guided selling.
  • Experience designing for app and web as a connected ecosystem rather than separate surfaces.
