About The Team

The Product Design team is the creative engine shaping the vision, strategy, and delivery of extraordinary member experiences at Life360. We are a diverse, collaborative group with an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship and delight in everything we create. With Life360’s rapid growth and strong business momentum, we have a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact at global scale. At the heart of our mission is a dedication to helping families feel safe, connected, and cared for through the transformative power of design.
This role sits within the Devices team, focused on defining and evolving the product design vision for Life360's hardware ecosystem, including Tile, pet GPS, and future connected devices. The team is entrepreneurial at its core: close to customers, close to the hardware, and focused on finding and scaling the moments where a physical device and the Life360 app create something genuinely more valuable together. This is hands-on, high-impact work, spanning the full arc from how a family sets up their first Tile to how a parent tracks a pet or a teen's backpack across a busy day.

About the Job

We are seeking a transformative design leader who delivers impact through what they create, to join our Life360 Devices team, pioneering the next horizon of the Life360 experience. The ideal candidate thrives in a zero-to-one mindset, bringing strong collaboration and partnership skills to deliver at scale. In this role, you will be at the forefront of shaping how we make everyday family life better, both within our app and across connected physical devices.

The US-based salary range for this position is $171,000 to $252,000. The Canada-based salary range for this position is $198,000 to $233,000. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary - therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.

What You’ll DoLead Product Design for Connected Devices
  • Drive end-to-end design across Life360's devices portfolio, including Tile, Pet GPS, and other hardware products. This role translates insights and strategy into elegant, scalable experiences that span physical and digital touchpoints.
  • Deeply understand the devices ecosystem, hardware constraints, companion app interactions, and user mental models, and design experiences that feel seamless whether a member is on the Life360 app, the web, or interacting with a physical device.
  • Own the in-app experience for how users set up, manage, and get value from their devices within Life360.
  • Lead early-stage design by rapidly prototyping hardware-software interaction concepts using AI-native and standard design tooling to test novel experiences at speed.
  • Map and storyboard end-to-end user journeys across physical and digital moments — from unboxing to daily use — and turn them into visual artifacts stakeholders can quickly react to.
  • Design frameworks and interaction models that reduce friction across device setup, management, and troubleshooting flows.
  • Develop scalable patterns that unify the devices experience across form factors and surface areas.
  • Partner across Product, Engineering, Brand, Research, Hardware, and Industrial Design to deliver high-quality outcomes and influence strategy with a strong design point of view.
  • Present insights and solutions at both the IC and C level that shape the devices roadmap and business strategy.
  • Guide and mentor fellow designers, modeling exceptional craft, curiosity, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Champion design culture and innovation by bringing in inspiration from consumer hardware, IoT, and connected product spaces.
What We’re Looking For
  • 10+ years of experience designing for mobile-first, consumer-facing products — ideally spanning hardware companion apps, IoT, or connected device ecosystems.
  • Experience designing across physical and digital touchpoints, with a strong grasp of how hardware constraints shape software UX decisions.
  • Familiarity with device lifecycle moments — unboxing, onboarding, setup, troubleshooting, and ongoing engagement, and how to design for each with clarity and delight.
  • Strong UI/UX craft with a portfolio demonstrating elegant, data-informed solutions to complex cross-platform or hardware-software problems.
  • Experience designing with and for AI-enhanced experiences, particularly in the context of ambient, location-aware, or sensor-driven products.
  • Skilled in rapid prototyping, with a bias toward exploration and iteration and a proven ability to close the gap between concept and scalable, shippable product
  • Experience with design partner programs or systems of continuous feedback with early access customers, hardware betas or device pilot programs a plus
  • Excellent communication and storytelling abilities. Able to translate technical hardware realities into compelling user-centered narratives and influence across functions and levels.
  • Systems thinker with a track record of creating scalable frameworks that work across form factors, platforms, and product lines.
Positive, collaborative mindset — brings energy, curiosity, and humility to every challenge, including the messy, cross-functional nature of hardware-software product development.

We value having a diverse and inclusive community from many backgrounds, so even if you don’t meet 100% of the above qualifications, you should still seriously consider applying!

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
