BE PART OF THE CONNECTION
As a Principal Engineer II, you'll be responsible for engineering activities that maintain and enhance the company's telecommunications and signal processing hardware, software and electrical systems. A highly skilled individual contributor providing technology leadership in the development of wireless and wireline access technologies, including 4G/5G, WiFi, DOCSIS and emerging technologies. Offers evaluation and support while driving the wireless technology roadmap in collaboration with key stakeholders such as Product, Engineering, and Operations teams, along with vendors and MSO partners. Additionally, you will collaborate with the design teams and advise team leaders.
WHAT OUR PRINCIPAL ENGINEERS ENJOY MOST

  • Responsible primarily for the research, development, hands-on integration and evaluation of early stage emerging technology solutions
  • Assigned the most complex and critical projects that involve several technical systems and constituents.
  • Assess new product requirements, develop technology and architecture solutions and evaluate performance.
  • Research and analysis of the wireless market and Spectrum strategies for Charter and supporting Charter policy teams with technical assessment
  • Studying different market segments and providing Modelling and competitive analysis for different wireless technologies and deployment strategies.
  • Responsible for new technology development and validation to include: Studying new technology trends, impacts of such technologies on Charter's wireless/ Wireline strategy and services offering(s), and validating capabilities of such through lab evaluation and possibly field trials.
  • Assists in developing a technology evolution roadmap (3-5 years) articulating strategic decision points, technology evolution plan and recommendations with regard to technology and network infrastructure investments.
  • Recommends to Product Development opportunities and approaches to optimize cost, reduce complexity and improve user experience.
  • Help drive innovative technologies and approaches for increasing performance, reliability, and quality of experience for customers
  • Mentors and guides the work of senior technical staff.
  • Reviews work plans and designs and advises on improvements.
  • Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
  • Knows, understands and follows company policy.
  • Performs other duties as requested by manager.


WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of engineering work experience
    • 10+ years of project management work experience
  • Education: Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience
  • Technical Skills:
    • Extensive understanding of software source control tools such as GitLab.
    • Advanced knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
    • Advanced knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
    • Advanced knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.
    • Advanced knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances
    • Advanced knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio
    • Advanced knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
  • Abilities:
    • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
    • Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
    • Ability to use personal computer and software applications
  • Travel Ability: Office Environment
  • Schedule:
    • Full time
    • This position is eligible to work in a hybrid work model (combination of in-office and remote days


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of company products and services
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
  • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training preferred (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)
  • Knowledge to work and test in Lab environments
  • Knowledge of RAN technologies (vRAN, MIMO, Timing and Sync with GPS, PTP)
  • Knowledge of radio/BBU/DU/CU configuration and management ( handling of eNB/gNB).
  • Knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
  • Experience with a broad range of wireless and wireline access technologies in key networking elements such as routing, switching, and security.
  • Operational experience with 4G/5G, NR-U, WiFi including industrial technology domain

The base pay for this position generally is between
$124,000.00 and $220,000.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
