Position Overview

The Principal Commercial Development Director will lead the commercialization of colorectal cancer (CRC) screening launches within the Screening Business Unit, and screening services. This includes collaborating across both the Screening Business Unit and Pipeline Business Unit to successfully develop and transition pipeline assets and new services from development to commercialization by following the launch readiness review process.  This leader will also be responsible for helping to shape the market for future commercial launches including communication objective development and execution, thought leader engagement, and competitive response activities. In addition, this leader will lead a regional marketing team to collaborate with field teams to identify key marketing opportunities and projects to achieve goals across all marketing teams.

Essential Duties

include but are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborate with Screening Business Unit leaders and commercial team to set commercialization strategy for CRC screening assets and services.
  • Lead the launch readiness review process for commercial team, collaborating with cross-functional partners across the commercial team and Screening Business Unit to prepare for future CRC screening launches and Cologuard product enhancements. 
  • Gain and synthesize external insights through market research, advisory feedback from relevant experts, and field intelligence to inform commercial strategy and competitive response activities.
  • Support development of core communication objectives and tactical plans to shape the market for future commercial launches and appropriate competitive response activities. 
  • Develop deep knowledge of thought leaders with national level influence to foster partnership opportunities across Exact Sciences and bring back insights about colorectal cancer screening.
  • Build a commercial engagement plan for thought leaders and practitioners who are shaping the field of colorectal cancer screening.
  • In collaboration with medical affairs, lead externally facing activities with national level thought leaders, function as the commercial voice at core and working team meetings regarding CRC screening pipeline assets.
  • Collaborate with Customer Experience, Insights, Corporate Strategy, Laboratory and Pipeline teams to represent the latest patient insights and needs that inform Cologuard collection kit lifecycle evolution
  • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
  • Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.
  • Motivate and inspire employees to do their best work through coaching.
  • Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to work seated for approximately 90% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 10% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to travel 20% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Science, or field related to job duties.
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial development, pipeline marketing, in-line marketing, or pharmaceuticals/Medical Device consulting roles.
  • Demonstrated understanding of strategic positioning of products to create success within competitive environments.
  • Strong scientific acumen and therapeutic understanding with the ability to analyze complex datasets.
  • Strong financial acumen with a good understanding of P&L drivers and the ability to develop appropriate investment and sales forecasts.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or field related to job duties.
  • Experience working within matrix-based teams and project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and proactively, and maintain high degree of planning, coordination, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and resolve conflict with diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with peers and cross-functional partners outside of immediate team.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas and make the complex easy for others to understand.

Salary Range:

$133,000.00 - $226,000.00

 

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
