Role Overview
The Financial Services practice is a new, dedicated industry vertical team focused on helping clients in the banking, insurance, asset management, and related segments address their most important strategic priorities. The practice is charged with growing this high value segment, competing as a strategic alternative to traditional consulting firms (Top Tier Strategy, Big 4, Larger Advisory Firms). As an early member of the Financial Services team, you’ll play an entrepreneurial role building up an all-new business while engaging with senior professionals on strategic topics at some of the world’s leading financial organizations.
As a Principal Associate within our Financial Services practice, you will play a pivotal role in supporting clients, experts, and the broader Catalant team throughout the entire go-to-market lifecycle. Our industry practice teams are made up of driven business development professionals dedicated to sparking business growth, nurturing strategic partnerships, and unlocking value for our clients.
Your core responsibilities will include strategic client planning, identification and matching of consulting solutions to client needs, vetting, coaching, and engaging with consultants, and managing key projects and processes to ensure successful service fulfillment. You will also play an important role building out the Financial Services practice, from establishing an engaged community of Financial Services-focused consultants to bringing innovative industry solutions to market. This position is tailored for individuals eager to develop a diverse skill set while working with leading industry professionals to solve complex problems. What you'll do
- Business Development / Lead Generation
- Support development and ongoing management of strategic client plans, including current and prospective client research to identify opportunities
- Conduct disciplined outreach to current and prospective clients via email, LinkedIn, and phone to generate interest, introductions, and content meetings
- Assess, qualify, and dimension new business opportunities and support the construction of winning consulting proposals
- Consultant/Project Team Sourcing
- Leverage proprietary tools to identify, connect with, and vet appropriate consultants that match project requirements
- Build relationships with network consultants; conduct pre-engagement interviews and help prepare them for successful client engagements
- Facilitate pre- and post-project activities, including consultant in-briefs, team preparation, project check-ins, and post-project feedback and lessons learned
- General Project Support
- Facilitate all aspects of client onboarding and support, including internal coordination to ensure exceptional experience and high-quality outcomes
- Monitor active consulting engagements, identify new opportunities/address issues, and facilitate post-engagement knowledge retention
- Assist in planning and improvement of key internal processes and resources that will support the growth of management consulting engagements
- Practice Building
- Collaborate with Managing Director, Marketing, and practice consultants to produce/distribute content and coordinate events to build market awareness
- Facilitate ongoing development and enhancement of catalog of consulting capabilities across industry sub-segments, functional disciplines, and use cases
- Support efforts to build a thriving, collaborative community of independent consultants on par with leading traditional consulting firms
What you'll bring
- Bachelor’s Degree (MBA or Advanced Degree a plus)
- 4-6 years of business experience, prior financial services and/or consulting background strongly preferred
- Strong communication skills (written/verbal) and comfort interacting and building relationships with senior executives and industry professionals
- Excellent problem-solving ability, using a thoughtful approach and financial/analytical acumen to conduct research and identify new opportunities
- Project/deal management discipline, with prior experience managing complex projects and/or high value deals from inception to successful completion
- Entrepreneurial mind-set and the initiative, drive, and flexibility needed to operate in a dynamic environment, work through ambiguity, and deliver results
