A Brief Overview
 

This role will provide strategic leadership and run the day-to-day operations of RGA's Bermuda entities (currently consisting of RGA Americas and RGA Global), ensuring alignment with both regulatory expectations and the broader goals of the consolidated enterprise. This position will serve as the legal entity president of one or more companies and will be the primary liaison with the Bermuda Monetary Authority, often working closely with RGA's regulatory relations area and other internal stakeholders. This includes, but is not limited to, representing RGA in client meetings and collaborating closely with key RGA group corporate functions (e.g., Finance, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Human Resources, Tax, Investments) to ensure integrated operations and governance as well as support of broader RGA strategy. This role will also lead and support special projects as needed, including, but not limited to, identifying and structuring innovative reinsurance or bank solutions to support both the Bermuda legal entity and the broader RGA group.
What you will do

  • Lead the legal entities’ day-to-day business operations, providing oversight to the associates in the RGA Bermuda office and direction to other dedicated resources as it relates to supporting regulatory and new business needs.

  • Develop and execute strategic plans that align with both legal entity objectives and RGA group consolidated priorities. Represent the legal entities in the RGA supervisory college, in executive forums, client engagements, and Bermuda trade organizations (e.g., BILTR).

  • Serve as the legal entity president and primary point of contact for regulators, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and building/maintaining regulatory relationships.

  • Lead and support the development and implementation of strategies to identify and source bespoke financing solutions and reinsurance structures tailored to the needs of the Bermuda legal entities and the consolidated enterprise.

  • Maintain robust governance frameworks and ensure timely regulatory reporting, financial reporting including audit readiness, and internal risk reporting. Partner with Legal and Compliance to manage regulatory risk and respond to inquiries or examinations.

  • Oversee daily operations, including financial performance, risk management, budgeting, and operational efficiency.

  • Ensure that internal controls, policies, and procedures are effectively implemented and maintained. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the Bermuda/Barbados legal entities.

  • Collaborate with shared services and functional leaders to ensure effective support, integration, and project management.

  • Work closely with RGA’s corporate leadership to ensure alignment between legal entity and consolidated company strategies. Provide insights and reporting to RGA’s corporate leadership on legal entity performance, risks, opportunities, and strategic plans.

  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, auditors, board members, and senior executives. Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization to ensure transparency and alignment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Finance, Accounting, Economics, Actuarial Science, Business or related field. required

  • Advanced degree in Finance, Business, or related field. preferred

  • 12+ Years of relevant experience in reinsurance, investment banking, or private equity with significant focus on the (re)insurance sector. required

  • 5+ Years of people management experience, with demonstrated ability to lead through influence including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility. required

  • 5+ Years in senior leadership roles. required

  • Experience with (re)insurance legal entity management and board of directors meetings. preferred

  • Expert knowledge of the Bermuda regulatory framework. required

  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks across major global markets. required

  • Proven track record in structuring, negotiating, executing, and managing complex transactions and alternative capital structures. required

  • Strong understanding of reinsurance markets, capital markets, and regulatory environments; general understanding of U.S. GAAP and U.S. insurance company taxation. required

  • Outstanding leadership abilities with experience managing high-performing teams. required

  • Superior analytical, communication, and relationship management skills. required

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and execution capabilities. required

  • Applicable professional qualifications such as FSA, CPA, or CFA (or equivalent in other countries). preferred
