The Opportunity
As a Practice Management Consultant, you will help financial advisors excel in their role as entrepreneurs. This position serves as a business model specialist, supporting advisors in designing Lead, Ensemble, and Enterprise businesses. The role is highly visible in the field and makes a meaningful impact through consulting, workshops, resource creation, and thought leadership. Practice Management consultants deliver advanced expertise and drive innovation in their respective areas of specialization.
The Team
Our Practice Management team is expanding MassMutual's business support and resources to help our affiliated financial advisors successfully grow and strengthen their businesses. Our objectives are to increase advisor growth, productivity, retention, and recruiting. The team supports advisors in all aspects of leading their businesses, including strategic planning, human capital, systemization, client value creation, business structures, financial management, organic growth, practice acquisitions, and succession. This is a recently formed team that is rapidly building new offerings and an extensive service model-making it an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment within a larger, established organization.

Salary Range: $134,400.00-$176,400.00

The Impact:
As the Practice Management Consultant, Business Models, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Serve as the practice management specialist for wealth management business models, helping financial advisors design and operate Lead practices (solo practitioners and vertical advisor teams), Ensembles (horizontal advisor teams), and Enterprises (large-scale businesses)
- Provide advanced expertise on business models, including ownership structures, team roles, financial models, client management approaches, organizational design, owner's compensation, partner pathways, and operating models
- Deliver presentations and workshops for one-to-many offerings and one-to-one consulting for large practices
- Build a comprehensive business toolkit to help advisors operate more effectively
- Design and deliver interactive workshops for advisors with an emphasis on actionable outcomes
- Provide specialist expertise to general agencies to strengthen their practice management offerings
- Support the Business Development team's practice management coaching programs in a specialist capacity
- Partner with Society Concierge Consultants to support practice management needs for qualifying advisors
- Deliver sessions for MassMutual Academy, Society 1851, agency meetings, and other events
- Develop expertise of MassMutual's advisor platform and resources in relation to center of excellence and spearhead enhancements
The Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 8+ years' experience in financial services or, alternatively, in an unrelated field serving small business owners
- 3 + years of experience working with financial advisors
- Willingness to travel approximately 10-20% of the time
- Due to the nature of the position, as a part of our background check process, candidates must be able to pass a non-registered fingerprinted background check to qualify as a fingerprinted person under FINRA

- Master of Business Administration (MBA)
- Deep understanding of the issues facing financial advisors as small business owners
- Advanced expertise working with advisors on issues related to business structure
- Ability to independently identify, build, and deliver new business resources
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to navigate ambiguous business situations
- Experience delivering consulting engagements that span both technical factors and interpersonal dynamics
- Strong presentation skills in both live and virtual formats
- Ability to clearly communicate nuanced concepts
- Team player who is also comfortable working independently
- Preference to work in a fast-paced, high-demand, dynamic environment
