Artisan Partners’ EMsights Capital Group seeks an experienced portfolio specialist to represent the strategies managed by the team. The portfolio specialist will primarily interact with the investment team along with prospects and clients, investment committees, boards and others to support new business opportunities and service clients through investment discussions, portfolio reviews, market reviews and investment solution positioning and performance reviews. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of emerging markets debt, the competitive landscape and global asset management trends. The ability to support the team’s growth with a proven sales record to identify and win new business is a plus.  

Location: Boston, MA

Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000

Specific placement within the provided range will be determined by an individual’s geographic location as well as relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Associates may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon Firm and individual performance.

Responsibilities

The candidate can expect to:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the portfolio managers and partner to the business leader
  • Identify, develop and cultivate a high quality, sophisticated client base across distribution channels, and geographies
  • Preserve investment team time by providing product specialist services, cultivating and maintaining an intimate understanding of the portfolio and investment philosophy and process
  • Provide support to the existing client base via routine and ad hoc client service efforts; ability to independently communicate performance attribution, portfolio design and structure, asset allocation and security selection
  • Monitor and actively report on competitor and product trends
  • Act as a liaison between the distribution team and marketing support teams regarding client requests, new business development (Finals/Request For Proposal/Request For Information, etc.), cash flows and marketing materials
  • Develop and produce written and digital communication for the team
  • Create and edit a variety of marketing and thought leadership content, intended for a sophisticated, institutional-oriented audience – including e-mail content, portfolio commentaries, thought leadership papers, blog posts, web content, reports, and sales presentations
  • Thoroughly analyze portfolio performance and positioning and craft commentary used to update investors and prospective investors, drawing on the key aspects of the investment team’s management style and investment philosophy
  • Assist in the ongoing monitoring of industry publications and news to identify potential investors and new search activity
  • Collect and communicate portfolio/market information and client background to head of business development in preparation for client/prospect/consultant meetings. (i.e., attribution, presentations, portfolio updates, etc.)

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • At least 5 years of experience at a buy side firm with a combination of portfolio specialist and sales experience
  • Deep knowledge of the emerging markets debt space and investment strategies
  • Effective communication skills to clearly articulate the team’s investment process, differentiated approach and competitive edge
  • Strong interpersonal skills to cultivate relationships internally and externally
  • Entrepreneurial approach with a desire to build a top-tier investment franchise
  • Demonstrable sales success through persistence, creativity and commitment to a shared vision
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis; domestic and global (25%)
  • CFA and/or MBA is strongly desired
  • FINRA Series 3, 7 and 63 licenses are required for the role (or obtained within initial 6 months of employment)
