Summary

Outstanding opportunity to join a growing team overseeing the general account portfolios of the insurance and reinsurance companies within Fidelity Investments. Come join a team leading one of the best-in-class financial services companies in expanding its life and annuity businesses to provide value to Fidelity customers. This role will support the growth of the general account portfolios including assisting in the development and oversight of the alternative asset portfolio and external investment mandates.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the development and oversight of a portfolio of limited partnership fund investments and bespoke investment mandates to achieve the investment objectives of the general accounts.

  • Develop and assess asset manager benchmark and peer relative performance.

  • Actively participate in due diligence meetings and support overall asset manager oversight processes for new asset managers.

  • Develop investment memoranda with investment recommendations for new investment opportunities.

  • Monitor portfolio investments, assessing the competitive landscape, performance track records, and overall market environment.

  • Coordinate all data and analytical requests made of asset managers.

  • Support the development of financial forecasts and accompanying capital markets assumptions.

  • Develop investment reporting for senior leadership.

Qualifications

We are seeking an Investment Associate who has the following minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant quantitative field and 3+ years of asset management or related work experience;

  • Experience with private asset classes, securitized products, or other asset class experience;

  • Experience developing and implementing investment strategies through the use of external asset managers;

  • Ability to contribute to existing portfolio management processes and develop new processes including data management;

  • Experience monitoring asset manager performance and compliance within investment guidelines;

  • Strong ability to collaborate with internal and external constituents including asset managers, portfolio managers, risk management, actuarial, finance, tax, and operations functions;

  • Ability to innovatively contribute to an entrepreneurial insurance and reinsurance team, within a large organization environment; and

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with specialized private and alternative databases.

The following additional qualifications are preferred:

  • MBA or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline;

  • Other industry certifications such as CFA, FSA, ASA, CERA, FRM;

  • Experience with limited partnership investments; and

  • Experience managing investment portfolios within a reinsurance or insurance company focused on asset liability management.

Compensation and Location

Position located in Boston, MA or Jersey City, NJ. Competitive salary, bonus, and benefits package commensurate with experience.

The base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $175,000 per year.  

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
