Job Description:

Policy Director, Digital Assets & Emerging Technology

Note: Fidelity is not providing immigration sponsorship for this position

The Role

Are you energized by how emerging technologies are reshaping financial services—and curious about what comes next before clear rules or frameworks emerge? Do you enjoy exploring complex questions where technology, innovation, and responsibility intersect? This role sits at the crossroads of innovation, technology, and public policy, helping Fidelity navigate change while staying grounded in trust and long‑term stewardship.

As Policy Director, Digital Assets & Emerging Technology, you will help shape how Fidelity engages with blockchain‑based innovation and cross‑enterprise technology change. Working closely across the firm, you will support thoughtful decision‑making as new technologies influence markets, business models, and investor expectations.

Your role:

  • Shaping strategic thinking on blockchain, digital assets, and emerging technologies across financial services

  • Partnering with business, legal, compliance, risk, and technology teams to evaluate new ideas and initiatives

  • Translating evolving technology concepts into clear policy, risk, and regulatory considerations

  • Asking forward‑looking questions about how technology changes incentives, responsibilities, and oversight

  • Monitoring trends across market innovation, including the rise of agentic financial services and intersections with cybersecurity, privacy, and artificial intelligence

  • Supporting external engagement with regulators, policymakers, and industry groups in a constructive and informed way

  • Preparing senior leaders for decisions amid uncertainty and change

The Expertise and Skills You Bring:

This role is designed for someone who understands crypto and emerging technologies and enjoys working through questions where the answers are still forming. You bring familiarity with blockchain, digital asset ecosystems, or adjacent technologies, along with the ability to think in systems rather than silos.

You are comfortable operating in ambiguity, asking insightful questions, and collaborating across disciplines to surface risks, trade‑offs, and opportunities. This role values judgment, curiosity, and the ability to connect ideas across technology, business models, and risk considerations.

Experience engaging with policy, regulatory, or risk topics is helpful, but deep specialization is not required. What matters most is how you think, how you communicate, and how you partner with others.

We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate:

  • Understanding of blockchain systems and emerging technology use cases

  • Experience applying emerging technology within financial services, fintech, or market infrastructure

  • Ability to translate complex ideas across technical and non‑technical audiences

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

  • Intellectual curiosity and sound judgment when navigating new or unfamiliar issues

The Team

This role sits within Fidelity’s Policy & Regulatory Strategy organization, which works across the enterprise to support thoughtful engagement with regulators, policymakers, and industry partners. Our work connects innovation with responsibility, helping Fidelity adapt as markets and technologies evolve.

This role collaborates closely with investment, brokerage, digital assets, legal, compliance, risk, and technology teams, as well as with external stakeholders across government, industry, and the broader financial ecosystem.

The base salary range for this position is $126,000-255,000 USD per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.

We offer a wide range of benefits to meet your evolving needs and help you live your best life at work and at home.  These benefits include comprehensive health care coverage and emotional well-being support, market-leading retirement, generous paid time off and parental leave, charitable giving employee match program, and educational assistance including student loan repayment, tuition reimbursement, and learning resources to develop your career.  Note, the application window closes when the position is filled or unposted.

Please be advised that Fidelity’s business is governed by the provisions of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, the Investment Company Act of 1940, ERISA, numerous state laws governing securities, investment and retirement-related financial activities and the rules and regulations of numerous self-regulatory organizations, including FINRA, among others.
