About Nexus

At Nexus, we help organizations turn complex data into clear, actionable insight — so the hard work behind artificial intelligence, analytics, and cloud infrastructure doesn’t slow innovation down… it accelerates it.

We’re a team of builders, problem-solvers, and collaborators who believe in moving fast, learning continuously, and doing great work together. Our role is to handle the heavy lifting of modern data platforms, governance, and cloud transformation so our clients can focus on making confident, strategic decisions that move their businesses forward.

We’re proud of the culture we’re building across the U.S. and India — one rooted in curiosity, ownership, collaboration, and care — and we’re excited to keep growing with people who want to do meaningful work alongside genuinely great teammates.

The Platform Architect will serve as the technical “north star” for the design, integration, and evolution of the NexusOne data platform for customer deployments and large programs.

This individual will architect the platform, define integration points, and design scalable, secure solutions based on incoming enterprise requirements using NexusOne platform.
They will participate in architecture review boards and ensure that all implementations align with NexusOne’s composable, open-source design principles. This role is forward-facing and requires a customer-centric mentality

Core Responsibilities
  • Architect and evolve the end-to-end NexusOne platform across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments, tailored to customer requirements and constraints.

  • Design and designate integration points for data services, pipelines, orchestration, governance, and security layers.

  • Translate solution requests and business requirements into scalable, compliant architecture blueprints.

  • Lead and participate in Architecture Review Boards (ARBs) to align deployments with enterprise standards.

  • Define and maintain reference architectures, design patterns, and integration frameworks.

  • Guide platform engineers and client teams in implementing best practices for security, observability, and reliability.

  • Oversee the selection, integration, and tuning of open-source components such as Airflow, Spark, Trino, YuniKorn, Superset, S3, NiFi, Ranger, and DataHub.

  • Partner with product and engineering leadership to evolve the NexusOne “North Star” architecture and roadmap.

  • Mentor engineers and collaborate with DevOps, Security, and DataOps to drive alignment and platform maturity.

Key Skills & Tools
  • Core Expertise: Spark, Trino, Airflow, NiFi, YuniKorn, Superset, Iceberg, Ranger, DataHub, S3.

  • Infrastructure & Automation: Terraform, Kubernetes (K8s), OpenShift (OCP), Docker, Linux

  • Security & Governance: IAM, SSO, KMS, Kerberos, Encryption, RBAC

  • Monitoring & Observability: Grafana, Datadog, Prometheus

  • Programming: Java, Scala, Python (preferred)

  • Architecture Practices: Solution design, reference architecture, system modeling, scaling patterns

Ideal Background
  • 8–12 years of experience designing or implementing large-scale distributed data platforms in regulated industries.

  • Proven track record as a technical architect or lead engineer at Cloudera, Databricks, AWS EMR, or similar open-source platform providers.

  • Hands-on experience integrating and operating open-source data tools across hybrid-cloud and containerized environments.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise governance and security frameworks (SOX, FFIEC, GDPR).

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills to influence architecture decisions across engineering and client teams.

Success Criteria
  • Delivery of a validated, production-ready platform architecture that meets clients' requirements.

  • Positive approval outcomes from Architecture Review Boards and internal security/governance reviews.

  • Defined and documented integration standards adopted by all implementation teams.

  • Successful enablement of platform engineers and developers through patterns, templates, and technical guidance.

  • Measurable reduction in deployment friction, downtime, or rework during environment rollouts

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
