About This Role

The Pipeline Commercial Lead, Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia (AD&D) Franchise, will be accountable for building commercialization strategy for all pipeline assets in Biogen’s AD&D Franchise. The candidate is responsible for driving customer-centric decision-making in the progression of programs across Research and early Development stage gates.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as single point accountability within AD&D franchise to lead commercial strategy on Alzheimer’s and Dementia pre-Proof of Concept(POC) R&D programs, developing commercial case and recommendations to inform internal pipeline stage gate decisions
  • Drive customer-centric commercial strategy into early product development programs, up to PDC formation, incorporating critical factors including health care provider, patient, payer, regulatory, device and IP input obtained from internal & external experts
  • Represent AD&D Franchise on the R&D governance committees to guide program strategy, advancement of pipeline assets, as well as stage gate transitions
  • Serve as ‘interim’ Global Commercial Leader as assets near POC readout and prepare for start of Phase III, initiating early engagement with the regions
  • Develop & deliver minimum and target product profile to inform clinical development program strategies and design of clinical studies from Phase I through Pivotal
  • Deliver long range plan, including market sizing and product forecasts (epi, market share, revenue and drivers/barriers), and P&L (opex requirements for capability build and spend)
  • Develop, deliver, and update competitive assessment and differentiation strategies (inline and pipeline products, competitor strategies, etc.) across the portfolio
  • Identify and address critical business questions by designing and implementing primary and secondary research and analytics and by leveraging and collaborating with internal expertise/capabilities effectively
  • Proactively engage with the Franchise Head, AD&D Franchise Leadership, R&D Program Leaders and partner with cross functional teams effectively to deliver & drive forward a unified disease area strategy that is aligned from research through development and commercialization
  • Direct strategic pipeline projects in line with annual disease area strategic planning process to advance franchise recommendations to governance.

Who You Are

You demonstrate a high degree of comfort in providing recommendations even when there is ambiguity due to uncertainty and lack of validated assumptions.  In addition, you are a fast learner, quickly understanding the fundamentals of a new disease area by effectively leveraging internal and external expertise or data sources.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 10 + years in commercial and or business functions required, solid biopharma experience in commercial required
  • Management of several diverse projects, including budgets, contracts, ability to prioritize and pivot rapidly based on evolving internal and external landscape required
  • Strong leadership, planning and organization, analytics, decision making and problem solving skills
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience in delivering presentations to executive-level audiences
  • Strong written and oral communication, enabling effective interaction with all levels of management and global teams/functions required
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional leadership and influencing skills, highly self-motivated, independent and resourceful
  • Experience in managing commercial partners / vendors
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving orientation
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience with financial modeling

Preferred Skills

  • Understanding of AD&D market dynamics and access considerations 
  • Prior pipeline strategy experience

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $199,000.00-$274,000.00


Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
