With a highly experienced drug development team and access to the wide ecosystem of Flagship companies, Pioneering Medicines is well positioned to conceive new medicine ideas both internally and in collaboration with strategic partners and advance these assets through to significant value inflection. Pioneering Medicines currently has 18 programs ongoing with additional coming soon. Pioneering Medicines works with external strategic partners including Novo Nordisk, Pfizer, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and continues to engage in discussions on potential partnerships.
Position Summary:
Pioneering Medicines is seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher to drive translational efforts across multiple therapeutic areas and drug modalities. The successful candidate will leverage deep subject matter expertise, scientific acumen and leadership skills, and will work in collaboration with companies across the Flagship Pioneering ecosystem. We are seeking individuals who are analytical, goal-oriented, and timeline-sensitive, while maintaining the highest levels of scientific and ethical standards. Strong communication skills and comfort working in a dynamic and cross-functional team environment are highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Generate and interpret translational data to support biomarker discovery, PK/PD and dose predictions, standard-of-care benchmarking, and development of clinically applicable biomarker assays.
- Develop platforms, identify CROs and external collaborators to grow the translational sciences capabilities.
- Opportunity to serve as scientific lead on early discovery projects, guiding cross-functional integration and strategy.
- Provide scientific mentorship and training to junior staff, and contribute to the operational strategy of the research team.
- Demonstrate an insatiable curiosity, strong work ethic, and the ability to work equally well in a team or independently.
- This is an on-site/hybrid position based in Cambridge, MA.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Ph.D., with 2+ years or MSc with 5+ years, including some industry experience (or equivalent).
- Understanding of translational research including biomarker discovery, PK/PD/efficacy relationships, dose predictions, and supporting assets into early clinical development. Well-versed in various biochemical, cellular, and immunological techniques in the laboratory.
- Experience developing proof-of-concept for novel biomarker assays, suitable for implementation on early phase clinical trials.
- Scientific expertise in immunology, cardio/renal/metabolic and/or oncology.
- Can think on their feet and demonstrate sophisticated scientific thinking in their data analysis.
- Ability and interest to work across multiple therapeutic areas and modalities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to establish novel protocols or techniques in the lab or at CROs, and to train and mentor junior team members for data delivery.
- Experience working in multiple drug discovery functions in early and late-stage programs.
- Ability to leverage cross-functional approaches to derive translational insights. A strong understanding of translational bioinformatics is highly desirable.
- Experience engaging with key opinion leaders and participating in external scientific collaborations.
- Exhibits an infectious enthusiasm for science/discovery and an eagerness to rise to challenges.
