The Role

As People Operations Specialist, you’ll support the day-to-day execution of Bright!Tax’s People Operations function, helping ensure a positive, consistent, and well-supported experience for team members across the full team member lifecycle.

You’ll work closely with the People Operations Manager and collaborate with leaders across the business to support People Ops systems, processes, and communications. This role is ideal for someone early in their People Ops or HR career who is eager to learn, highly organized, and excited to grow within a modern, remote-first organization.

What You’ll Do

  • Support hiring and onboarding operations, including interview scheduling, candidate coordination, offer documentation, and onboarding logistics.
  • Maintain and update People Ops systems (including BambooHR), ensuring accurate team member data, document management, and workflow support.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for People Ops inquiries, helping route questions related to HR systems, pay coordination, benefits, policies, and role-related topics.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure smooth, thoughtful transitions for team members.
  • Assist with People Ops programs related to performance, engagement, learning, and development.
  • Help coordinate team experiences and events, including firm meetings and offsites (planning support, documentation, and follow-up).
  • Draft and maintain People Ops documentation, SOPs, templates, and internal communications in alignment with Bright!Tax’s values and brand.
  • Support compliance-related tasks and vendor coordination under the guidance of the People Operations Manager.

What You’ll Bring

  • Educational background or coursework in Human Resources, People Operations, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • A high degree of professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • A service-oriented mindset with a genuine interest in supporting team members.
  • Comfort working in a fully remote environment with teammates across time zones.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn new systems and processes.

Nice to Have

  • Completion of HR, People Ops, or recruiting-related courses or certifications.
  • Familiarity with HR systems or tools (e.g., BambooHR), even through coursework or projects.
  • Experience with documentation, process mapping, or administrative coordination.
  • Interest in employer branding, culture, or team engagement initiatives.
  • Exposure to global or distributed teams through school, internships, or volunteer work.

What We Offer

  • Fully remote, globally distributed team with purposeful flexibility.
  • A supportive, learning-oriented environment with hands-on mentorship.
  • The opportunity to build a strong foundation in People Operations.
  • Clear growth pathways within the People Ops function.
  • Compensation for this role is budgeted at $24,000 USD per year.

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
