 Role Overview 
The People and Culture Assistant is a pivotal role at Darkhorse Tech, responsible for fostering a positive, growth-oriented environment that aligns with our mission and core values while providing broad support across the People & Culture function. Working in close collaboration with the Leadership Team, including Technical Service Leaders and the VP of People and Culture, this position drives employee engagement, supports employees' ongoing development through regular follow-up, and assists with day-to-day human resources administration. Through consistent development check-ins, meaningful engagement initiatives, and dependable HR support, the Assistant will contribute to making Darkhorse Tech a destination for passionate and talented individuals. 

Key Responsibilities 

Employee Development and Engagement 

  • Conduct regular, scheduled follow-up meetings with each employee to support and maintain progress on their individual development plan, helping them stay on track toward their long-term goals. 
  • Use regular one-on-one follow-up meetings to understand each employee's "WHY" and connect them with resources and shadowing opportunities with senior technicians. 
  • Own and drive employee engagement initiatives, such as recognition and mentorship programs, fostering connections between team members to enhance collaboration and morale. 
  • Continuously refine onboarding processes, ensuring new hires are set up for success from day one. 
  • Maintain robust feedback mechanisms, such as regular surveys and development follow-up meetings, to track and improve engagement, development progress, and satisfaction levels. 
  • Support leadership capability building by helping identify and encourage future leaders within the company through ongoing development follow-up. 
  • Implement innovative tools and approaches to keep engagement initiatives fresh, relevant, and impactful. 

Leadership and Collaboration 

  • Partner with the VP of People and Culture and Leadership Team to align employee engagement and development follow-up with company-wide strategic goals, ensuring team success over individual silos. 
  • Lead by example, setting a high standard of professionalism and engagement in all interactions. 
  • Champion the engagement initiatives owned by this role, encouraging continuous improvement and innovation across the team. 
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with employees and leaders, ensuring open communication and alignment across all levels of the organization. 

Measurement and Reporting 

  • Develop and track KPIs related to People and Culture, ensuring alignment with Darkhorse Tech’s strategic goals. 
  • Provide transparent reporting to the Leadership Team on the progress and impact of initiatives, using data to refine and improve strategies. 
  • Regularly analyze employee feedback, engagement data, and industry trends to inform decisions and keep Darkhorse Tech at the forefront of employee experience best practices. 

Human Resources Administration: 

  • Provide ongoing administrative support to the VP of People and Culture and the broader People & Culture function, including but not limited to: 
  • General HR administrative tasks (e.g., daily attendance monitoring, maintaining employee files and records, preparing HR correspondence) 
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding process (e.g., reviewing resumes, candidate outreach, scheduling interviews with Managers) 
  • Assist with employee issues and inquiries 
  • Provide backup HR coverage when the VP of People and Culture is out of office 
  • Support general People & Culture projects and initiatives as assigned

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or business administration, or equivalent experience is preferred 
  • 1-2 years of experience with employee engagement, development, and/or HR administration  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills 
  • Active listening skills 
  • Knowledge or familiarity of IT is a plus
