About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing assigned pay groups utilizing Workday HRM/Payroll System, off-cycle paychecks, related inbound and outbound interfaces, processing metrics, and other Payroll-related reports and forms. Duties include:
- Processes Workday Timesheets, Absence and Leave related to payroll.
- Provides information and assistance to the University departments on payroll, timesheet and absence issues.
- Responds to inquiries from staff, faculty and the HR community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of payroll/accounting concepts and practices as well as PC-based applications. Understanding of IRS regulations, maintain accurate and detailed records and handle confidential information. Effective communication, customer service, and organizational skills. Knowledge and skills typically acquired through an associate's degree (or equivalent) plus 1-3 years of experience. Bachelor's degree, payroll or accounting experience, preferably with Workday, desired.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
1) Perform end-to-end payroll processes for designated payrolls, following checklist, including Time Sheet, Absence and Leave processing, adhering to all required audits and resolution authorization. Perform off-cycle adjustments as requested by manager; add to off-cycle spreadsheet. Ensure taxes for all payrolls and adjustments reconcile.
2) Perform inbound and outbound interfaces as well as related tasks for general deductions, adhering to schedules. Record related metrics for time elapse and volume counts for optimal system and personnel utilization. Perform other rotating and back-up duties.
3) Provide excellent customer service; respond promptly to all inquiries. Support users for Time Sheets, Payroll, Tax and Payroll Deduction inquiries.
