The Payroll Supervisor must be detail-oriented, customer-focused, and eager to develop leadership skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of payroll employees in the accurate and timely processing of customer payrolls on the Workday platform.

• Monitor daily team workload and task distribution, adjusting priorities to meet deadlines and SLAs.

• Provide real-time coaching and feedback to payroll employees, reinforcing best practices and OSV's service standards.

• Track and report on individual and team performance metrics, flagging trends or concerns to the Manager, or Senior Manager of Payroll Services.

• Support the onboarding and training of new payroll specialists, ensuring they are set up for success from day one.

• Partner with the Manager or Senior Manager to implement process improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and communicate relevant changes to the team.

• Assist with customer communication related to payroll questions, tax matters, and reporting.

• Ensure team adherence to OSV policies, SOC audit controls, and data security standards.

Competencies

• Front-Line Leadership: Demonstrates ability to lead, guide, and motivate a team of payroll employees in daily operations. Sets clear task expectations, monitors follow-through, and addresses performance issues promptly and constructively.

• Payroll & Compliance Knowledge: Applies working knowledge of payroll processing, multi-state tax regulations, and Workday functionality to audit team output and resolve processing issues. Stays current on regulatory changes and ensures team compliance.

• Attention to Detail & Accuracy: Reviews payroll with a high degree of accuracy. Identify errors before they reach the customer and establish quality checkpoints to reduce rework and risk.

• Customer Service Orientation: Responds to customer inquiries and issues with professionalism, urgency, and empathy. Understands the impact of payroll errors on customers and consistently prioritizes a positive customer experience.

• Team Development & Coaching: Invests in the growth of payroll employees through real-time feedback, training support, and day-to-day mentorship. Recognizes team strengths and identifies development opportunities to build bench strength.

• Workload & Priority Management: Effectively manages team capacity against competing deadlines, customer needs, and SLA requirements. Adjusts daily priorities as needed and escalates resource conflicts to the Manager or Senior Manager in a timely manner.

• Communication & Escalation: Communicates clearly with team members, peers, and the Manager or Senior Manager. Knows when to resolve issues independently and when to escalate and does both with appropriate urgency and documentation.

• Process Improvement Mindset: Identifies inefficiencies in daily workflows and partners with the Manager or Senior Manager to propose and implement solutions. Embraces change and encourages the team to adopt improved practices. Qualifications
