We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to take ownership of our payroll processes and ensure accurate federal and state compliance filings. You will report to the Senior Director of Accounting and be a key liaison between Finance, Human Resources, and outside service providers to ensure collaborative and successful cross-team initiatives. Payroll Manager Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant processing of all payroll transactions and related tax and benefit compliance
Transactions include standard salaries, commissions, sales awards, on call pay, stock option calculation payouts, monthly employee award and recognition programs, taxation, severance, leave of absence, new hire compliance, terminations (knowledge of final-pay state laws), bonuses, and any special payments as deemed appropriate
- Process and review bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll in North America (US and Canada)
- Maintain compliance for Federal, Provincial, Multi-State, City/Local wages and hourly compliance, jurisdiction set-up, calculation, reporting, and remittances
- Review all incoming mail and emails regarding Federal and State payroll tax status and issues and resolve as needed
- Work directly with the Tax Manager to provide payroll information for surveys & tax reporting
- Maintain accurate and complete payroll records for internal and external purposes
- Monitor and implement modifications to the payroll solution (ADP) configuration, including design, testing, and training for any new payroll requirements or features
- Communicate all payroll matters with employees
- Responsible for all month-end payroll-related journal entries and reconciliations
- Facilitate all year-end tax reporting
- Lead the workers’ compensation audits and assist with the 401(k) and financial statement audits
Requirements:
- 5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state experience
- Extensive knowledge of US and Canadian payroll compliance standards
- Extensive knowledge and experience with ADP payroll processing system
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners, including ADP and jurisdictional authorities
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with multiple departments
- Ability to problem solve and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ideal candidates will also possess the following:
- US Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
- Broad appreciation of benefit administration
- Background in Accounting and Human Resources
- Experience in international payroll filings and compliance
