The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company's regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.
Your Responsibilities
As a Part-Time Student for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group located in Urbandale, IA, Ames, IA, or Austin, TX, you will:

  • Engage in Agile software development activities, including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives and hackathons
  • Collaborate with team members to define product requirements and implementation
  • Support a culture of software crafting best practices, including Test Automation, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment
  • Work with individuals on your team to follow established coding standards, workflow, or tool standards
  • Troubleshoot ISG Applications, Infrastructure, and Networks in the Cloud


This position is NOT available to students on immigration visas.
What Skills You Need

  • Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in an Engineering, Science or Technology related discipline; others may apply
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a U.S. accredited college/university
  • Graduation date of Spring 2026 or later
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Available to work during the academic year 10-20 hours/weekly between the business hours of 7 AM to 5 PM Central
  • Available to work during the summer semester 35-40 hours/weekly between the business hours of 7 AM to 5 PM Central
  • Must be able to complete work remotely during the school-year
  • Must be able to commute to the work location in Urbandale, IA, Ames, IA, or Austin, TX on a monthly basis during the summer semester (NOTE: Relocation assistance is not provided.)
  • One or more years of experience in application development with Java, C#, React.js, or Node.js
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services [ECS, S3, ES, Lambda, ELB]
  • Understanding of CI/CD tools
  • Experience using TDD
  • Experience using Docker & Terraform

  • Experience with Continuous Integration and/or Build Pipeline Automation
  • Experience with multiple programming languages/frameworks such as Java, Spring, C#, React.js, Node.js, or SQL/NoSQL

  • Experience in roles that required strong analytical and problem solving skills

$15 - $40 hourly based on published rates for business function and education level.
