As a Sewing Parachute Technician at MORSE you will be responsible for the fabrication of components used to build first-of-a-kind aerial vehicles. These responsibilities will include construction with plastics/polymers, the use of electrical hand-tools, measurement tools, and the execution of various assembly/fabrication procedures. The Vehicle Build Technician is a part-time role with flexible working hours who will be asked to support vehicle build activities when needed and given weeks to months prior notice to schedule the support.

Skills and Requirements

The Sewing Parachute Technician should be able to follow detailed assembly/fabrication procedures, observe and evaluate outcomes of these procedures in an accurate, organized manner. The candidate should be able to work closely with engineers, with the ability to identify issues and communicate them appropriately. Experience with plastics, composite layup, plastics processing, and/or sewing is preferred. The candidate should be interested in working in a collaborative team environment, taking and following directions, while also contributing to the component designs and fabrication procedures.

Requirements:
  • US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED or the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance

  • Ability to work part-time, as an on-call employee

  • Ability to follow detailed fabrication processes to a high degree of quality and accuracy

  • Experience using PPE such as gloves, goggles, and respirators

  • Experience using jigs, patterns and basic hand-tools, to trace and cut out patterns in textiles/thin films

  • Ability to identify issues, communicate them and work with engineers to develop solutions

  • Experience with sewing a plus

  • Experience with various knot-tying techniques a plus
