The Role
The Packaging and Logistics Cost Estimator will work closely with our GMD teams and third party suppliers to provide packaging and logistic cost. The Packaging and Logistics Cost Estimator works closely with GM Global Purchasing and Parts Sustainment team to provide total cost solutions. The work of a Packaging and Logistics Cost Estimator involves a high level of independent judgment, strategic vision, detailed analysis, and outstanding communication skills.

What You'll Do
- Proactively work with Purchasing Teams to understand and support the development of sourcing strategies to optimize total enterprise cost solutions
- Responsible to support detailed analysis of various supplier footprints, delivery methods, container assumptions, value chains and business case scenarios to optimize total enterprise cost solutions
- Single Point of contact for GMD Logistics to support the following types of studies:
- Expendable Packaging and Logistics request for quotes from Sustainment Team (MIL-Std and Commercial)
- Advanced Purchasing Sourcing
- Business Transfer
- Supplier Footprint
- Logistics/Total Enterprise Cost Savings
- Support Purchase Requests, financial tracking and Invoicing for Military Standard and Commercial Standard Packaging
- Communication of Sourcing decisions to GMD Logistics team members
- Support development and training of processes
- Support special projects
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's Degree
- 2+ years of logistics or packaging experience
- Logistics and/or packaging cost estimation experience
- Strong analytical, strategic planning and leadership abilities
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area
- Ability to network and collaborate cross-functionally and globally
- Candidate must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee)
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience with Military Specifications and Contracts
- Knowledge of Supply Chain policies and processes including such areas as global logistics procurement, network design, external service providers, containerization, material management and purchasing systems, tools and process'
