The Outsourced Controller - CAS is tasked with delivering accurate and comprehensive financial reporting to clients. This role ensures the integrity of financial practices, from revenue recording to balance sheet reconciliations, while offering insights and best practices to aid client decision-making. The Controller’s work encompasses both oversight of transactional accounting and strategic advisory, including the training of staff and the enhancement of efficiency through automation and policy application.

Success FactorsResponsibilities
  • Oversee accounting functions for a portfolio of businesses, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines, including accounts payable/receivable, bank transactions, payroll, and financial statement preparation
  • Manage and lead engagement teams, including offshore resources, to deliver high-quality service to each assigned client
  • Coordinate and execute month-end close procedures for clients, including review and approval of team members' work
  • Prepare for and participate in month-end close meetings, including financial statement analysis and client meetings
  • Produce monthly and annual financial statements and reporting for clients, presenting results to clients or governing bodies as necessary
  • Establish and maintain standardized accounting procedures and processes to streamline operations
  • Develop a deep understanding of each client's industry, business model, accounting operations, and financial management requirements
  • Identify and implement technology or process improvements to enhance efficiency and automation of client engagement workflow
  • Create engagement budgets and leverage technology and staffing to meet economic objectives, monitoring work progress against budgeted time and completion dates
  • Direct various levels of staff to ensure the achievement of project objectives, stepping in to assist directly when needed
  • Ensure quality control through the review of the client work performed by other service line leaders
  • Research and propose solutions to client issues, collaborating with Team Leads to address and resolve client concerns
  • Contribute to developing best practices, and effectively communicate with both team members and clients
  • Follow up with client communications, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and addressing ad hoc inquiries and tasks
  • Participate in continuing professional education (CPE) and training sessions to maintain and enhance expertise
  • Attend business development events and meetings to foster growth and networking opportunities for the firm
  • Any other duty as needed to drive to the vison, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of RKL Virtual Management Solutions

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Ability

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, to effectively interface with all levels of firm management and staff; ability to communicate issues and conclusions
  • Problem solving skills; ability to shift focus and adapt to changes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive and adapt in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple project

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years general accounting experience in a corporate setting required
  • CPA certification or other relevant certification a plus

Essential Functions

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position as needed
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office and at client offices to access file cabinets, office machinery etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner and exchange information with internal and external actors as needed
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours and weekends as needed
  • Ability to travel to local and non-local clients as needed, overnight travel may be required

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $95,000
