Generate outbound pipeline across defense and commercial accounts through high-volume, research-driven prospecting. Use AI and intent signals to identify targets, personalize multichannel outreach, cold call, exceed meeting quotas, and collaborate with sales and marketing leaders. Build and document outbound sequences, messaging, openers, and objection-handling processes that establish the company’s repeatable outbound playbook.

PreVeil is a high-growth SaaS leader dedicated to securing the nation's defense industrial base. We provide a market-leading cybersecurity solution that empowers organizations to accelerate and maintain compliance with the Department of Defense's CMMC program. At PreVeil, we don't just offer a product; we provide a market-proven path to security and compliance, ensuring our customers can focus on their mission while we protect their most sensitive data. Joining PreVeil means joining a team at the forefront of national security innovation during a period of rapid, exciting growth.

To expand into new verticals & geographies,  we’re building our warm outbound motion, and we’re looking for the first person to run it.

As our first Outbound Business Development Representative, you’ll generate new pipeline across our defense and commercial markets — prospecting into the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) and commercial accounts, working signal-based leads (prospects showing a real buying trigger), and serving as the first voice prospects hear from PreVeil.

You won’t be doing it alone. You’ll join a sales development team of six and report to our SDR Manager. But you’ll be the first rep here dedicated purely to outbound, which means the playbook you build in your first two quarters is the one every BDR after you will run. Your openers, your sequences, your objection handling. That’s a rare amount of ownership.

The work is high-volume, research-driven, and highly visible.

Hybrid role based in Boston. We’ve been named a BuiltIn Best Places to Work winner three years running

Your day-to-day:

  • Owning outbound prospecting into DIB and commercial accounts
  • Using AI and signal-based intent data to decide which accounts to hit, when, and with what message. Signals include:
    • A new DoD contract award
    • An approaching CMMC compliance deadline
    • A security or IT leadership change
    • A funding event
    • Repeat visits to our website
  • Using AI to research accounts and personalize your outreach
  • Exceeding weekly call and qualified-meeting quotas
  • Running multi-channel sequences across phone, email, and social to thoughtfully engage prospects
  • Making cold calls and developing the pattern recognition to turn a cold opener into a booked meeting
  • Partnering closely with account executives, sales directors, and marketing leadership to:
    • Refine target account lists across DIB and commercial segments
    • Integrate market feedback to sharpen your pitch and messaging
    • Flag where the stack and the process need to improve
  • Documenting successful sequences, openers, and objection handling so it becomes the foundation of PreVeil’s outbound playbook
  • Treating AI as a force multiplier across your entire workflow

You’ll thrive as our first Outbound Business Development Representative if:

  • Experienced in high-velocity outbound prospecting; 1+ years as an SDR or BDR, with a track record of exceeding quota in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Comfortable with the volume, rejection, and resilience cold calling demands
  • Fluent in a modern outbound stack with the ability to quickly adopt new approaches (We use Salesforce, Nooks, Claude, ZoomInfo, and our internal AI context lake.)
  • Genuinely enthusiastic, focused, and committed to your outbound campaign targets
  • Highly coachable, adaptable, and hungry
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • A strong writer who can leverage AI to augment cold email production
  • A creative problem solver comfortable with creating new techniques to achieve sales goals
  • Energized by a blank slate

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
