Job Description SummaryThe Project Director is the single point of contact for GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) at Customer site outages and owns outage project execution including, but not limited to, Refuel Floor, Under Vessel, Inspections and Modifications. The Project Director is responsible for all GVH field deliveries and performs these duties during the periods leading up to, during, and following refueling outages. In this role, the Project Director is the single point contact and onsite GVH leader to the Customer’s Outage organization.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of project delivery for Field Services Projects including ITO & OTR
  • Acts as the onsite single point of contact for all GVH business
  • Attends customer meetings where GVH is a stakeholder
  • Participate in and lead continuous improvement activities related to refueling outage improvement
  • Provide oversight and direction of the GVH Project Managers assigned to support the same Customer projects
  • Enforce GVH project controls procedures to ensure project success
  • Assist the Customer in planning, scheduling, and budgeting for all GVH Refueling Outage Activities
  • Ensure GVH Programs improvement programs are being implemented at the various Customer sites (e.g. Human Performance, Foreign Materials Exclusion, Lessons Learned, etc.)
  • Perform other assignments as business needs dictate.
  • Integrate the services team effectively during site execution, coordinating with various departments to streamline operations.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets and financial performance in accordance with contractual agreements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in nuclear refueling outage leadership positions
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with contract language, commercial contracts, negotiations, and face-to-face customer meetings

Eligibility Requirements:

  • The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters Wilmington, NC but qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb and descend 10 flights of stairs twice per day
  • Ability to pass fit test and physical
  • Ability to pass Fitness For Duty requirements and site security requirements to obtain unescorted access to nuclear plant sites
  • Ability to work under high stress conditions
  • Ability and willingness to work in radiation controlled and radioactively contaminated areas
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally plant sites
  • Ability and willingness to work 12 hrs. / day seven days per week (when delivering of field projects)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of managing teams effectively and achieving results.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Industrial
  • Prior field delivery supporting nuclear power plant outage scope
  • Strong decision-making skills, self-starter and highly organized administrative skills
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification
  • Knowledge of GVH systems, products, services, and processes including the Corrective Action Process and Foreign Materials Exclusion program requirements
  • PWR Outage Leadership Experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Excellent computer skills; ability to use MS Office, MS Project, E-Matrix Database
  • PMP/CAPM Qualifications
  • Knowledge of both BWR 2-5 and PWR vessels and components, Nuclear Steam Safety System (NSSS) and Containment Buildings
  • Knowledge of equipment, processes, and scheduling unique to BWR 6 vessels
  • Open communication style and proven ability to develop team relationships, including vendors and global teams
  • Ability to manage effectively through high stress conditions
  • Strong attention to detail and ownership of outputs

The base pay range for this position is $119,600-160,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on 9/12/2025.

 

The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
