The Team

MassMutual Strategic Distributors:
We have had great success in recent years distributing our annuity and life-LTC combination products through our financial institution relationships. To further this success, we must evolve our strategy to reach more customers where they are, on their terms, with the products they need. For that reason, we are pleased to announce that MassMutual will be forming a dedicated third-party distribution channel, MassMutual Strategic Distributors (MMSD). MMSD will continue to build on the annuity and life-LTC combination strategy and expand the product solution offering to include life and disability insurance.
 

MMSD's strategy is to aggressively grow top line sales by expanding existing and establishing new partnerships with financial institutions (wire houses, banks, broker-dealers) and making significant investments in technology, sales, operations, marketing, and product development. Our strategy will be driven by dedicated teams across the enterprise where we will prioritize a dynamic, agile, and entrepreneurial culture.

As a Relationship Manager you will work independently to maintain and enhance relationships with our distribution partners. Ensures distribution partner satisfaction through periodic partner meetings and discussions covering strategy, operations, and business performance. Works closely with internal business partners to resolve complex business operations issues and service escalations.

The Impact:

  • Support the day-to-day operations activities of our strategic distribution business, delivering tailored, concierge level service to our distribution partners. 

  • Act as liaison between external partners and internal teams to drive resolution on all service issues, leading as relationship manager for our distribution partners. 

  • Own and drive to resolution all firm back office and wholesaler escalated service issues. 

  • Identify training opportunities and deliver training to improve knowledge and experience.

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for Life, DI, LTC, and/or annuity operations.

  • Partner with Compliance, Field Risk Management and other business partners on regulatory matters and risk management escalations.

  • Serve as a point of contact for inquiries from business partners including external third-party record-keepers and external auditors.

  • Produce and distribute daily, weekly and/or monthly reports related to our distribution partners' business. 

  • Identify gaps in processes and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.

  • Consult on escalated support issues and perform root cause analysis to fully understand and resolve issues. 

  • Gain a deep understanding of our distribution partners' business models and tailor operations to support them. 

  • Work without guidance on complex projects, working closely with both business and technical stakeholders.

  • Interact with distribution directly to support new product launches or onboarding of new firms, to include training our distribution partners on operations related topics. 

  • Demonstrate agility and flexibility to work on or support special projects as needed.

The Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 3+ years of insurance industry experience, with strong knowledge of annuity, life, disability, long-term care, or hybrid insurance products

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work quickly and independently with attention to detail and sensitivity to deadlines

  • Relationship management skills required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Extremely organized, detail-oriented individual who is capable of self-managing and multi-tasking in a fast-paced, demanding environment

  • Proven ability to collaborate within team and cross-functionally and influence outcomes

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing business priorities and a strong work ethic

  • Ability to work remotely

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree

  • Experience with and an understanding of Third Party distribution

  • Knowledge of regulatory issues surrounding ownership of insurance products

Salary Range: $70-80K, commensurate with experience
