About the Position
We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager who will report into our Quality Engineering organization. Our Quality Engineering organization is responsible for championing a ‘Quality first’ mindset across our cross-functional scrum teams, expanding our testing tools and technologies, ensuring the success of our implementation and client delivery teams, and leading the investigation and resolution of production-critical issues.
At the core, this position is focused on leading a team of people who are passionate about using technology to drive quality and ensure an excellent customer experience. This includes QA Automation Engineers and Software Engineers.
In addition to leading a team, our managers have additional responsibilities that align with their interests and expertise. Through their technical or organizational leadership, their mission is to ensure that their area of focus is continually evolving and is well understood and supported throughout engineering and other departments. We are looking for someone that is always thinking about continuous improvement, draws upon their experience and observations, and is willing to be a vocal advocate for change. We want someone that will make us better!
What you will do as a Software Engineering Manager in the QE Dept:
- Serve and collaborate as a team leader in a distributed work environment
- Monitor and determine various staffing and professional development needs
- Recruit, hire, mentor, coach, and energize engineering staff members
- Contribute to the growth and development of our core values: We Before Me, Positive Energy, Knowledge Explorer, and Own It
- Contribute to the growth and development of our Scrum organization by promoting Scrum’s values: Courage, Focus, Commitment, Respect and Openness
- Lead an area of focus or a discipline within Quality Engineering. Additional responsibilities will be defined based on an area of focus, but may include:
- Organize/lead a Chapter
- Ensure thorough documentation and knowledge transfer
- Define metrics
- Represent your area of focus in meetings with Scrum teams, Products, Senior Management, external teams, department meetings, etc.
Some areas of focus and leadership opportunities for this position include test automation, application performance and scalability, application monitoring and alerting, test data management, release management, or other aspects of quality engineering.
Experience and skills that are important for success in this role:
- S. or M.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
- 3-5 years of proven experience leading quality or software teams
- 2+ years of hands on leadership experience with Scrum
Additional beneficial experience:

- Test automation or performance testing tools, Selenium and JMeter a plus
- Source control and CI tools, Bitbucket and Jenkins a plus
- Application monitoring tools, AppDynamics, Solarwinds and Splunk a plus
