The BioPharma Business Operations Director is part of the BioPharma Sales/Ops team and reports to the VP, BioPharma.
As part of the BioPharma Business Operations Team, the BioPharma Business Operations Director will successfully lead and manage all BioPharma projects to support scalable growth of the business unit and of the company.
Act as key point of contact for external partners during the execution of Biopharma projects
- Establish and maintain strong relationship with external partners (e.g., BioPharma companies, CROs) and represent SOPHiA’s BioPharma operational excellence at any point of time (pre and post contract signing)
- Meet project milestones and deliverables when an external lab is required, coordinate all external facing meetings with clients and internal stake
Drive and coordinate all internal operations required to bring BioPharma projects to completion
- Be accountable for execution of all BioPharma projects
- Ensure effective cross-functional teamwork to secure the successful completion of projects (on time and with high quality)
- Develop internal stakeholder management processes and communicate about project status as per project management plan.
- Ensure observance of all applicable regulations and quality standards in the operations of the projects
- Provide regular and structured updates to team on project status, performance and territory trends/issues
- Manage projects with respect to assigned budget and timelines
- Maintain document of records of all project aspects (contracts, project updates, deliverables)
- Constantly interact and maintain relationship of cross-functional leader groups including BioPharma sales, Clinical Operations, Data science, etc. to achieve business objectives for the BioPharma BU.
- Share with the Clinical Operations team any relevant information potentially impacting the global community and is proactive in proposing improvements/changes when applicable.
- Ensure observance of all applicable internal policies, regulations and quality standards in the operations of Biopharma projects
Manage and lead the Business Operations Specialists Group
- Provide scientific mentorship to the BioPharma Operations Specialists (scientific project managers) such as development of charts, figures, and graphs for BioPharma projects, molecular epidemiology report review, development of key messages within datasets, and poster development for scientific conferences
- Develop best practices for querying the genomics database with the data science and tertiary teams
- Train and develop team in best practice scientific project management
- Oversight of all active BioPharma projects and resourcing, track progress toward project goals, evaluate project data and results, and report project status to leadership
Requirements
- Master’s degree or PhD in Life Sciences (specifically on Genetics, Genomics etc)
- Mastery of genomics
- 3+ years in a senior role related professional experience in a clinical/diagnostic laboratory, or pharmaceutical/biotechnology R&D environment.
- Strong knowledge of drug development
- Quantitative data analysis skills
- English fluent
- Experience managing collaborative projects with multiple stakeholders
- Experience leading cross-functional teams
- Project Management (PM) Certification or equivalent (bonus)
- Has an entrepreneurial spirit and is success-orientated
- Embraces change and challenges status-quo
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience working directly with clients, managing communication and project updates
- Is a self-starter, works independently with minimal supervision
- Takes ownership and assumes responsibility
