The Opportunity
As the Operations Transformation Portfolio Manager, you'll oversee the Portfolio of Transformation Programs that will encompass leading, managing, and executing complex business transformation initiatives that align with the Operations Roadmap. In partnership with leadership and key stakeholders, you'll implement strategies that enable the organization to adapt to changing market conditions, emerging technologies, and new business models, while leveraging data and analytics to evaluate and offer solution options and propose thematic broad-scale business challenges to be addressed and improved, backed by thoughtful analysis. Furthermore, you'll create adequate levels of governance for effective decision making and oversee the governance process.
The Team
You will be joining the Operations Strategy and Transformation team. We develop strategy in partnership with business units around MassMutual to improve Advisor experience at every part of the value chain. Our team consists of seasoned project managers, portfolio managers and business analysts.
We promote a culture of accountability, transparency and agility, while remaining focused on driving results and developing solutions that will benefit staff and our clients.
The Impact:
As the Operations Transformation Portfolio Manager, your scope of responsibility can be broken into three main functions - project management, strategic thinking, and delivery and milestone achievement. Specific responsibilities include, but aren't limited to the following:
Program Management

  • Lead and manage multiple transformation initiatives related to Operations three year roadmap
  • Develop and execute project plans, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and timely achievement of milestones.
  • Implement effective project governance, risk management, and issue resolution strategies.
  • Leads efforts to design and implement a cross-functional playbook to support the full life-cycle of project work including discovery, prioritization, dependency management and value delivery for transformation portfolio


Strategic Thinking

  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the Operations Transformation, aligning with the overall organizational strategy
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, optimization, and efficiency to enhance operational effectiveness


Delivery and Milestone Achievement

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration and coordination to integrate and achieve key objectives within specified timelines
  • Ensure the successful and timely delivery of critical milestones across the transformation portfolio


The Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in project or program management
  • 4+ years of experience leading or participating in large-scale, enterprise-wide transformative initiatives
  • 4+ years of experience in portfolio management
  • 4+ years of change management experience within a large, matrixed organization
  • 4+ years of experience developing and presenting information to executive leadership team
  • Bachelor's degree or a High School diploma with 12+ years of project or program management experience working on transformation initiatives


The Ideal Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • 4+ years of experience working in financial services or insurance
  • Attitude to operate as a doer-leader, instead of a manager of people and tasks
  • Problem solver with an ownership mindset, instead of a facilitator
  • Exceptional strategic and analytical, problem-solving, and storyboarding skills
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • High degree of comfort with ambiguity

Salary Range: $121,800.00-$159,800.00
