We are seeking a talented individual to join our Operational Due Diligence at Mercer Sentinel. This role will be based in New York, Chicago or Boston. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Operational Due Diligence (ODD) Consultant

Mercer Sentinel is a global group of 44 full time staff, focused on consulting to clients on all aspects of investment operations. Our operating hubs are New York, Chicago, Denver, London, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney. The Operational Risk Assessments Team consults on investment operations, implementation and governance of investment managers.

We will count on you to:

  • Due to increasing client demand we are continuing to build a specialist team focused on investment manager operational risk assessments working with both Asset Managers and direct operational risk consulting to Asset Owners. We would like to employ an operational due diligence consultant who has an understanding of the investment industry and the operational functions of investment organizations. The job holder will work as part of a team of experienced analysts and consultants

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leading asset owners, consulting directly on operational best practices across investment operations, including governance, oversight, and risk management frameworks. This client-facing role requires strong relationship management skills and the ability to present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders, investment committees, and boards.

  • Perform due diligence on investment organizations to highlight and manage operational risks that may impact clients

  • Write operational risk review operational risk consulting reports

  • Work as part of a team participating in managing projects

  • Review documentation provided by investment managers & asset owners

  • Participate in on-site visits with investment managers & asset owners

  • 30% travel throughout North America

  • Contribute to manager and/or specialist research projects

What you need to have:

  • A bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, finance or other business-related areas with strong quantitative and analytical course content or direct relevant experience

  • Experience with investment management, operations, fund management or investment consulting

  • Understanding of investment manager middle and back office operations, fund administration, portfolio accounting, regulatory compliance and other relevant industry experience

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Superior communication skills and team collaboration skills

  • Written skills must be advanced & Client facing experience required

  • Good organizational and time management skills

  • Previous experience in operational risk analysis, fund administration, and or financial / portfolio accounting

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $122,400 to $244,800.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
