We Are Praetorian

Praetorian is defined by raw intensity, fearless candor, and a relentless drive. This is who we are.

We are looking for high-performing, mission-aligned individuals. We prioritize performance over politics and purpose over transaction. This environment is built for those who seek ownership and impact.

Is Praetorian the right fit for you? If you are someone who obsesses over the problem, defaults to open communication, and wants to work with a team that refuses to accept mediocrity—then you have found your home.

The Mission

Praetorian is an expert-driven offensive security company. Our mission is to prevent breaches before they occur. We help organizations shift from an "assume breach" mentality to adopting offensive security as a core strategy of prevention.

We don’t just find bugs; we solve the root cause. We are building a future without compromise, and we need people who run toward the fire.

Who We Are Looking For We are looking for an Offensive Security Manager who leads from the front. You're not managing from a distance. You're in the work — raising the bar on delivery, developing the engineers around you, and holding the line on quality when it matters most. You believe great management is what turns talented individuals into a world-class team.

How You Operate You bring mission-driven intensity to every client engagement and every career conversation with your direct reports. You run toward hard problems rather than around them. You prioritize customer outcomes over internal process and choose accountability over deflection when things go wrong. We look for managers with a bias for action — people who own the fix, share the credit, and care more about getting to the right answer than being right. You embrace AI not as a trend but as a force multiplier — actively identifying where automation can make your team faster, sharper, and more effective.

How are you using AI today in your current role? What specific tools are you using? If applicable, show us your last AI experiment.

What You Will Own

  • Lead the Team: Manage, develop, and retain a team of up to 10 offensive security engineers — setting clear expectations, removing blockers, and building the culture that keeps top 1% talent engaged and growing.
  • Own Delivery Quality: Maintain a maniacal focus on client satisfaction throughout every engagement, ensuring technical precision and a consistently high standard of execution across red team, application security, and cloud security.
  • Drive Performance: Run the team against clearly defined objectives and key results — owning utilization, gross margin, NPS, and career development outcomes quarter over quarter.
  • Close the Loop: Partner with product and engineering leadership to systematically feed real-world offensive findings into the Guard platform, turning field expertise into platform capability.
  • Raise the Bar: Identify opportunities to improve engagement methodologies, standardize delivery, and scale throughput without sacrificing depth or quality of findings.
  • Champion AI Adoption: Actively identify and implement AI tools and automation within your team's workflows — reducing manual overhead and increasing delivery capacity without increasing headcount.
  • Support Growth: Assist sales in managing existing client relationships and winning new logos, showing up as a credible technical leader in front of CISOs and security leadership.

What You Bring

  • The Foundation: 5+ years of industry experience with a strong understanding of the cybersecurity space, paired with 3+ years managing technical teams in a consulting or managed services environment.
  • Domain Expertise: Hands-on background in offensive security — application security, cloud security, red teaming, or penetration testing — with enough depth to credibly lead a team doing that work.
  • Customer Fluency: Prior experience in an outward-facing role, with comfort presenting to and building relationships with executive-level stakeholders including CISOs and VPs.
  • Operational Chops: Proven ability to manage people and projects simultaneously, translate business objectives into tactical execution, and operate with clarity in ambiguous environments.
  • The "Plus One" Edge: Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK, CTEM frameworks, software maturity models (OpenSAMM, BSIMM, SDL), agile development practices, and modern cloud security architectures. A Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Business rounds out the profile.

If This Position Is Wildly Successful, In One Year You Will Have:

  • Elevated the quality and consistency of offensive security engagements across red team, application security, and cloud security, setting the standard for technical rigor and client impact
  • Built, mentored, and retained a world-class team of offensive security engineers, establishing clear growth paths that attract top 1% talent and reduce attrition
  • Developed scalable engagement methodologies and playbooks that increased team throughput without sacrificing depth or quality of findings
  • Identified and integrated AI tools and automation into team workflows in ways that meaningfully reduced manual overhead and increased delivery capacity
  • Strengthened client relationships at the CISO and VP level, becoming a trusted advisor who drives repeat business and expansion through the quality of your team's work
  • Partnered with product and engineering leadership to feed real-world offensive findings into the Guard platform, closing the loop between services and product
  • Established operational metrics and reporting that give leadership clear visibility into team utilization, engagement quality, and revenue contribution

Why Praetorian?

We offer a culture built on high performance and deep ownership.

  • Elite Talent: Work alongside the top 1% of the industry—composed exclusively of high performers who raise the bar.
  • Our DNA: We are defined by action, grit, and uncompromising transparency. We move fast, take on hard problems, and choose clarity over comfort—because that’s how meaningful work gets done.
