*Please note this role is with Infrata, a dss+ company

*This role can be based anywhere in the US with a preference for the northeast.

Infrata is a globally operating consultancy advising private investors—including industry sponsors, infrastructure funds, lenders, and public-sector counterparties—on the demand, commercial, and technical aspects of large, complex transportation and social infrastructure projects.

Following Infrata’s acquisition by dss+, we are accelerating our growth in priority infrastructure sectors and geographies. This combination brings together Infrata’s deep infrastructure advisory capability with dss+’s strengths in operational performance, risk management, and sustainable impact.

As part of this growth, we are expanding our North America (USC) infrastructure advisory business, with a particular focus on Ports and Aviation.

The Role

We are seeking a Technical Director to play a senior leadership role in growing and delivering Infrata/dss+’s advisory offering across North America.

The role combines technical leadership, client leadership, and business development, with primary responsibility for leading complex, multi-disciplinary advisory engagements and acting as a senior point of contact for investors, operators, and public authorities.

You will lead and oversee commercial and technical due diligence, business planning, traffic and demand assessments, capital expenditure reviews, and operational optimisation studies for ports and airport assets.

This role is critical to supporting Infrata/dss+’s regional growth ambitions and shaping our market position in North America.

Key Responsibilities

Client & Project Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of complex ports and aviation advisory assignments, including investor due diligence and strategic advisory.

  • Act as the senior client interface, building trusted relationships with C-suite executives, investment committees, and public-sector stakeholders.

  • Oversee and challenge integrated outputs across demand, operations, capex, ESG, and financial interfaces.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide deep expertise in ports and/or aviation, with the ability to challenge assumptions and guide multidisciplinary teams.

  • Lead or review traffic, throughput, business plan, and infrastructure development assessments.

  • Ensure technical quality, consistency, and robustness of all client deliverables.

Business Development & Growth

  • Originate and develop new client opportunities across North America.

  • Lead proposal development, pitch preparation, and commercial negotiations.

  • Support account development and cross-selling with broader dss+ infrastructure, operations, and sustainability teams.

People & Practice Development

  • Mentor and develop consultants and managers within the infrastructure team.

  • Contribute to capability building, knowledge development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Help shape the long-term strategy for the Ports & Aviation practice in North America.

Who You Are

You will bring:

  • A strong track record of delivery in ports and/or aviation advisory, operations, investment, or development.

  • Proven experience leading infrastructure due diligence, business planning, or strategic advisory assignments.

  • Deep understanding of demand drivers, operational performance, capital planning, and risk in port and airport assets.

  • Strong client-facing skills, with credibility at senior executive and investor level.

  • Demonstrated business development capability and commercial acumen.

  • Experience leading and motivating project teams in a consulting or complex project environment.

Education & Experience

  • Relevant academic qualifications (e.g. engineering, transport, economics, logistics, maritime, aviation, business, or similar).

  • Significant professional experience in ports and/or aviation, ideally within consulting, infrastructure investment, operations, or public agencies.

  • Excellent written and spoken English; additional languages are an advantage.

  • Ability to advise non-technical stakeholders on complex technical matters.

Location & Travel

This is a North America–based role with flexible working arrangements.
Travel within the US, Canada, and occasionally internationally will be required for client meetings, workshops, and site visits. Some flexibility in working hours may be required due to global project teams.

What We Offer

  • A senior leadership role in a growing, globally connected infrastructure platform.

  • Opportunity to shape the Ports & Aviation advisory business in North America.

  • Exposure to high-profile transactions and strategic advisory mandates.

  • Competitive compensation, performance-based bonus, and benefits.

  • Flexible working arrangements and strong emphasis on professional development.
