About the Role

GeneDx is seeking an innovative, growth-oriented leader to serve as our National Sales Director of Prenatal Genetics . This is a unique opportunity to launch and lead a new business unit, shaping the future of prenatal genomics while building and coaching a high-performing team.

As Director, you will have direct reports and will be responsible for executing strategy and ensuring the successful adoption of GeneDx’s advanced prenatal genetic testing solutions. You’ll work hand-in-hand with senior leadership to bring new offerings to market, grow revenue, and position GeneDx as the trusted partner for clinicians and patients in prenatal care setting.

This role is ideal for a forward-thinking commercial leader with deep experience in genomics, diagnostics, women’s health, or prenatal medicine — someone who thrives in both strategy and hands-on execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Unit Leadership: Launch and scale a new Prenatal Genetics business unit, setting vision, priorities, and execution plans.
  • Team Development: Recruit, lead, and mentor a team of sales professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
  • Strategic Growth: Execute the comprehensive go-to-market strategy that drives adoption of GeneDx’s prenatal solutions, expands market presence, and delivers consistent revenue growth.
  • Market Development: Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and growth pathways in the prenatal genomics landscape.
  • Execution Excellence: Maintain high visibility with customers and the field team, providing coaching, managing performance, and cultivating strong clinical and commercial relationships.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Client Experience, Product and Commercial Strategy teams to ensure alignment and seamless execution.
  • Thought Leadership: Stay ahead of market trends, payer dynamics, and competitive insights; serve as a trusted expert both internally and externally in prenatal genomics.
  • Culture Champion: Model GeneDx’s cultural principles — embrace change, communicate openly, act with integrity, be bold, and drive forward with purpose.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (business, life sciences, or related field).
  • 10+ years of commercial leadership experience, including at least 5 years managing teams with direct reports.
  • Proven success in launching or scaling new business units, products, or markets within diagnostics, genomics, or women’s health.
  • Experience with prenatal call points such as MFM and OBGYNs considered a strong asset.
  • Deep understanding of complex selling environments, including payer/reimbursement dynamics.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to execution and change management.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to travel 25–40% for field engagement, conferences, and key meetings.

  • High-quality testing: Our laboratory is CLIA certified and CAP accredited and most of our tests are also New York State approved.

  • Thorough analysis: We classify variants according to our custom adaptation of the most recent guidelines. We then leverage our rich internal database for additional interpretation evidence.
  • Customized care: Our experts review all test results and write reports in a clear, concise, and personalized way. We also include information for research studies in specific clinical situations.
  • Impactful discovery: Our researchers continue working to find answers even after testing is complete. Through both internal research efforts and global collaborations, we have identified and published hundreds of new disease-gene relationships and developed novel tools for genomic data analysis. These efforts ultimately deliver more diagnostic findings to individuals.
