Role Overview

As STV’s National Pursuit Leader, you’ll be the strategic engine and driving force behind our highest-value pursuits, including the billion-dollar programs, alternative-delivery megaprojects and competitive must-win opportunities that determine the firm’s growth trajectory across the U.S.

You will lead at the intersection of sales strategy, executive alignment and competitive intelligence, spearheading campaigns and competitive positioning for opportunities across Transportation, Buildings, PMCM and Water markets. You will champion major pursuits and drive the overall competitive positioning and sales process, including managing pursuit teams focused on client engagement, capture planning, strategy development, and innovative delivery to achieve winning results for our top pursuits.

As a National Pursuit Leader, you will research market trends, new technologies, and potential clients in the targeted growth market, collaborating with internal subject matter experts to define the company’s value proposition and strategic offerings. Critical to this role is the ability to shape go-to-market strategies to successfully compete in new markets and geographies.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Sales Officer, you take ownership of STV’s most strategic national pursuits – driving the marketing and sales efforts that shape our growth across Transportation, Buildings, PMCM, and Water. You will engage regional and local teams across the country, traveling as needed to align stakeholders and sharpen our competitive edge. As the hands-on leader of mega pursuits, you will own every phase of strategy development and competitive positioning, guiding teams with confidence, clarity, and decisive direction, including:

Pursuit Management

  • Lead and support large, complex pursuits across Transportation, Buildings, Water, and Program/Program Management/Construction Management (PM/CM).

  • You’ll facilitate team strategy, drive early positioning, conduct competitive assessments and SWOT analyses, shape communications and media approaches, build teaming strategies, and incorporate innovative solutions and digital tools to strengthen STV’s competitive advantage.

Team Facilitation

  • Coordinate and engage seamlessly with teaming partners and internal technical leaders – including thought leaders, subject matter experts, discipline managers, and joint venture

  • partners – ensuring alignment, clarity, and collaboration throughout the pursuit lifecycle.

Proposal and Presentation Strategy

  • Develop creative, compelling ideas that highlight STV’s differentiators.

  • You leverage enhanced graphics, media, and storytelling techniques, and you provide confident, actionable coaching to help individuals and teams deliver polished, client-focused presentations.

Production Oversight

  • Oversee proposal managers and pursuit support teams, ensuring the pursuit strategy is executed with precision at every stage of proposal and presentation development.

  • You safeguard quality, consistency, and alignment with STV’s national brand.

Strategic Planning

  • You’ll lead the development of strategic initiatives that unlock new growth opportunities across emerging markets and geographies.

  • You help shape investment decisions, identify resource needs, define branding and visibility strategies, influence media campaigns, and map tactical actions that strengthen STV’s national market position.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • You bring a minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience leading successful pursuits and driving market growth within the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry.

  • You have led major pursuits and strategic growth initiatives for AEC programs exceeding $500M in construction value, demonstrating command of complex, high-stakes opportunities.

  • You excel as a communicator – your oral, written, and visual communication skills enable you to influence, inspire, and clarify strategy at all levels.

  • You demonstrate strong critical thinking, creativity, and sales strategy development, with a proven ability to craft differentiators that win.

  • You thrive in collaborative environments, bringing exceptional facilitation and leadership skills to multi‑disciplinary teams and executive stakeholders.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related professional field such as business development, marketing, communications, or a similar field.

  • Candidates may substitute comparable experience for educational requirements.

Compensation Range:

$207,685.75 - $259,607.18
