Job Description

CD PROJEKT RED is looking for a Narrative QA Analyst to join our Boston studio team working on Project Orion, the next game in the Cyberpunk franchise. In this role, you will focus on ensuring the highest narrative quality by identifying, analyzing, and verifying issues related to storytelling, dialogue, and overall narrative coherence. You will collaborate closely with writers, designers, and the broader QA team to maintain consistency, immersion, and player engagement throughout the game’s narrative experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Narrative QA Test Plans & Strategies focusing on narrative consistency, quest logic, dialogue accuracy, and storytelling flow.
  • Write and Maintain Test Cases & Checklists including dialogue consistency checks, Quest progression and branching outcomes, Lore consistency, VO sync and subtitle accuracy.
  • Ensure effective Narrative QA documentation and knowledge sharing by creating, maintaining and organizing test documentation, including testing processes and reported bugs, to keep it accessible for the Orion team.
  • Collaborate closely with development and design teams to ensure the game aligns with story and technical specifications.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing of video games, focusing on storybuilding, implementation of questlines, Cinematic and VO quality, story logic, lore logic, emotional representation of scenes, questflow, pace building.
  • Identify and report bugs, track their resolution and verify fixes.
  • Analyze data and manage risks related to the game's narrative aspects.
  • Provide constructive feedback on cutscenes, questflow, lore, and narrative aspects of the game. Ensure coherence, emotional impact, and player engagement while also assessing the quality of cinematics and voice-over to maintain narrative consistency and immersion.
  • Test and assess the game's performance and stability on different platforms to ensure smooth gameplay and the proper functionality of narrative elements.

Qualifications


  • 3+ years experience in working in a similar position.
  • Experience in creating and verifying detailed test checklists.
  • Experience in documenting testing processes and bugs using bug-tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).
  • Excellent understanding of video games and their storytelling mechanics, branching narratives and choice-driven systems.
  • Ability to identify and report bugs including issues related to the game's narrative aspects.
  • Ability to collaborate with teams and provide constructive feedback on the game, including its narrative elements and overall player experience.
  • Ability to think analytically, solve problems efficiently and approach work in a structured, systematic manner.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in work.
  • Team player with strong communication skills.
  • Passion for video games and narrative storytelling in various genres.

Nice to haves

(Please note that these skills are not required to apply for the position)

  • Experience in testing games on various platforms (PC, consoles, VR).
  • Understanding of various narration systems used in movies and games, including linear, branching, nonlinear, environmental, procedural, and emergent storytelling.
  • Familiarity with various commercial game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity).
  • Basic knowledge of automation tools or scripting for QA automation.

Working mode: in-office in a hybrid or full-time capacity.
