About the company

Cahira Technologies Inc is an MIT spinoff company (https://www.linkedin.com/company/cahiratech/). We have built the the world’s first autonomous and non-surgical brain implant: novel sub-cellular sized wireless electronic devices that seamlessly integrate with the neurons or other biological cells, enabling brain-computer symbiosis beyond conventional brain-computer interfaces.

Already validated in our animal studies, this breakthrough has been honored with several esteemed awards such as the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award with the highest and rarely achieved impact score, the MIND Prize, and featured by BBCForbesCNNBloombergMIT News etc. It is poised for clinical translation for treating intractable neural diseases as well as for transcending humans beyond biological limitations.

Join us in our exciting journey to define the future of neurotechnology and human augmentation!

About the role

We're hiring a micro/nano-electronic device engineer with strong background in electronic device physics, semiconductor engineering and CMOS technology. You will be involved in developing electronic devices for wireless brain stimulation. You should have an interest in biomedical implants, though no prior experience is needed in biotech. Strong grasp in electronic devices (diode, transistors, MEMS, band diagrams etc) is a MUST. Experience in micro/nano-fabrication is strongly preferred but not absolutely required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**):

  • Design and develop new nanoelectronic devices for biomedical applications

  • Perform simulations to optimize the device

  • Perform micro- and nano- fabrication using small tools to make electronic devices using cleanroom facilities and perform device characterization

  • Explore applications of these devices for biomedical implants

Qualifications and Skills:
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors or M.S or PhD in electrical/electronic engineering, physics, materials science, bio/mechanical/chemical engineering or relevant field

  • Strong background in solid state physics and electronic devices (diodes/transistors/band diagrams)

  • Minimum 2 years’ specialized lab experience required (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate or graduate) in design, simulation or fabrication of electronic devices (diodes/transistors/optoelectronics/MEMS or other devices)

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in micro/nano-fabrication

  • Experience in electronic device simulations

  • Experience with circuit design

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
