PAY RANGE
The Target Pay Range for this position is $184,300.00-$225,000.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $143,000.00 - $266,300.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.BENEFITS
Employees and their eligible family members have access to a wide array of employee benefits, such as medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage. Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance. We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan. Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. As the Mortgage Strategic Initiatives Director, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mortgage services at BECU. You’ll lead the charge in turning big-picture strategies into tangible results, guiding major mortgage initiatives from conception to completion. Your work will connect cross-functional teams, remove roadblocks, and create clarity and momentum across the organization. WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Lead Strategic Mortgage Initiatives: Oversee large-scale, cross-functional mortgage project portfolios from start to finish, aligning with strategic priorities and ensuring they stay on track, on time, and within scope.
Build and Deliver Annual Plans: Partner with executive leaders, and stakeholders to develop and execute an annual plan that aligns projects with organizational priorities and resources.
Standardize Project Management Excellence: Establish and maintain robust frameworks, governance models, and methodologies (like Agile or Lean) that elevate consistency, quality, and speed across project execution.
Orchestrate Roadmap Planning: Drive planning for project roadmaps, intake, resourcing, and prioritization. Track risk, complexity, and value delivery across initiatives.
Solve Cross-Functional Challenges: Identify interdependencies and risks across teams and business units. Influence resolution and minimize project disruption.
Develop and Inspire Talent: Mentor and lead project managers to strengthen communication, elevate performance, and build best-in-class delivery capabilities.
Ensure Audit Readiness: Prepare projects for internal and external audits with the right documentation, controls, and compliance standards.
Foster Stakeholder Transparency: Build relationships and drive alignment by communicating clear goals, timelines, and progress using intuitive tools and metrics.
Manage Budgets with Precision: Lead financial tracking and reconciliation for programs and projects to ensure transparency and accountability.
Support Change and Adoption: Plan for effective transitions by identifying training needs and support strategies before and after implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field—or equivalent experience
Typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience in program, project, or portfolio management
Experience in the financial industry with a deep understanding of operations and strategy execution
Experience leading project management efforts for system conversions or integrations
Mortgage industry experience
Desired Qualifications:
Advanced degree in a relevant field
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and principles (i.e., PMP, Green Belt, etc.)
Proven leadership of large-scale project or program management teams
Demonstrated ability to influence across multiple stakeholder groups without direct authority
Skilled in both short- and long-term strategic planning
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience engaging executives and board-level audiences
Strong leadership, planning, and negotiation skills
