Meetings & Events Strategic Account Manager

The Strategic Account Manager (SAM) leads innovative account management strategies and is focused on increasing profitability and deepening client relationships within a portfolio of Global and Multi-National accounts. The SAM’s role is to grow and increase the non-transactional revenue of their portfolio, through a combination of exceptional relationship management and consultative sales skills, a sophisticated ability to synthesize client needs and identify innovative solutions, a strong understanding of the external market, and their in‑depth knowledge of the Amex GBT value proposition.
What You'll Do:
- Researching the marketplace and competitor products and services to highlight the value that distinguishes Amex GBT products, and specifically uses MI, benchmarking, and technology as critical value drivers
- Developing an in-depth understanding of key business drivers, organizational culture and the competitive edge of clients
- Leading the global efforts of the assigned portfolio across four regions and over 50 countries, which includes guiding the regional market leads in their efforts to support the client global goals/initiatives
- Leading expansion efforts to deliver multiple revenue streams and further penetrate accounts, with a focus on driving expansion of premium revenue
- Developing creative pricing strategies and contributing to ongoing client P&L management
- Leading business planning, C-Level executive reviews, quarterly and annual account reviews, and business negotiations on rebids for strategic accounts
- Enhancing the Amex GBT value proposition through policy consultation, researching white paper needs, technology road mapping, optimizing online solutions, and event content development.
- Exercising strong relationship building skills to establish a broad web of influence with client partners
- Strong communication and presentation skills to present complex ideas in a simple and compelling way to a wide variety of audiences, including the "C-Suite"
What We're Looking For:
- Three to five years of global account/client management and leadership experience required
- Deep global M&E subject matter expertise with demonstrated track record of success in leading large, complex, multi-client structures across various industry verticals whilst delivering growth and desired business results
- Demonstrates critical thinking by considering a broad range of internal and external factors before identifying and providing solutions
- Gets results by challenging the status quo, championing new thinking and implementing efficient processes
- Sound financial acumen and previous management of high spend P&Ls featuring various commercial models (e.g. SMM, DOE, Rate Card, Commission Retention, etc.) involving balancing of income and costs
- Ability to effectively lead and maintain a high standard of performance during times of change and uncertainly
- Strong negotiation skills, including the ability to handle objections and achieve mutually beneficial solutions with proven success in RFP management/negotiations
- Possesses strong attention to detail and consistently delivers high quality work
- Superior organizational and workload management skills with ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and priorities, consistently meeting deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
- Strong business sense with ability to develop strategic client business plans and implement initiatives to help advance their M&E programs
- Highly collaborative self-starter with ability to work successfully both as part of a larger cross-matrixed environment or independently
- Possesses analytical approach with ability to effectively assess data in order to identify key points and make sound decisions
- Proficiency in most common office software products (MS Office) with advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint. Additional experience in Salesforce, NetSuite and Workday is preferred.
- Must be able to travel as needed (estimated up to 10-20% of the time)

The US national base salary range for this position is from
$88,200.00 - $163,800.00The national range provided includes the base salary that GBT expects to pay for the role. Actual base salary will be based on factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location.
In addition to base salary, the anticipated range of which is posted above, this role is either eligible for a sales incentive plan based on specific sales' roles, or for a discretionary annual bonus, which rewards participants based on individual and/or company performance.
