About the Role

As Medical Director, you will shape and scale Sleep Doctor’s virtual sleep medicine program. You will develop and oversee clinical protocols, ensure regulatory and clinical compliance, and provide medical supervision for a growing team of nurse practitioners and respiratory therapists. You’ll bring deep expertise in sleep medicine and lead the clinical vision of a fast-moving, digital-first care delivery model that’s changing lives.

We’re growing fast—and we’re looking for an exceptional board-certified sleep medicine Medical Director to lead clinical management and evolution of our virtual sleep care offering at our Friendly PC.

This position reports to Sleep Doctor’s Chief Executive Officer and will be based out of our Seattle office or will be a remote position. 

What You'll Do

  • Clinical Leadership
    • Serve as the lead physician for Sleep Doctor’s virtual care programs focused on sleep disorders including obstructive sleep apnea and insomnia today, and potentially others as we grow.
      Lead the development and implementation of clinical protocols, including diagnostic criteria, treatment plans, and prescribing standards.
      Provide clinical oversight and mentorship to a multidisciplinary team including nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and RPSGTs
  • Program Strategy & Quality
    • Partner with product, operations, and engineering teams to ensure telehealth care models are evidence-based, scalable, and patient-centric.
      Define and monitor clinical KPIs, quality assurance initiatives, and provider performance metrics.
    • Help drive adoption of best practices in remote diagnosis, treatment planning, and adherence monitoring, including via home sleep testing and PAP therapy.
  • Regulatory & Licensing
    • Assist in maintaining compliance with state and federal medical regulations, HIPAA, and telehealth-specific clinical guidelines.
    • Serve as the supervising physician for a nationwide team (a 50-state license is ideal but not required).
  • Thought Leadership
    • Represent Sleep Doctor externally in medical forums, publications, and strategic partnerships.
      Contribute to clinical content and education across digital channels as a key thought leader in virtual sleep medicine.

What We Are Looking For

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with active U.S. license.
  • Board certification in Sleep Medicine (REQUIRED).
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, ideally including telemedicine and leadership roles.
  • Experience in developing and scaling clinical protocols and teams.
  • Deep understanding of sleep disorders (especially sleep apnea and insomnia), home sleep diagnostics, and treatment modalities.
  • Passion for transforming sleep quality for patients through telehealth innovation and world-class clinical operations.
  • Strong communication and collaborative leadership skills.
  • Active or eligible for multi-state licensure (50-state preferred).
  • Experience supervising advanced practice providers and remote clinical teams.
  • Familiarity with digital health tools, remote monitoring, and healthcare technology platforms.

Compensation Range

$230-$275K; prorated for PT equivalent.  Note that final compensation is subject to the candidate’s specific qualifications and location, as well as the needs of the company. 

The Company currently provides medical, vision, and dental insurance and 100% of the employee  medical, vision,   and   dental   premiums  covered   by   the   Company.  There is an option to participate in both a medical FSA and dependent care FSA. We offer a 401(k) plan, with fully matching contributions up to 3% of salary and 50% matching from 3% to 5% of salary. There is a company paid life-insurance policy, and the option to participate in a voluntary pet-insurance policy.  You will be eligible for Paid Time Off in accordance with the company’s policies. Our Seattle-based employees will receive commuter benefits.
