Opportunity Overview
Cohere Health is seeking a Medical Director, Clinical Informatics to join our team of physician leaders, technologists, and data scientists transforming how healthcare decisions are made. This individual will play a critical role in shaping our clinical informatics strategy, working at the intersection of evidence, data science, and clinical policy to enhance the quality, accuracy, and interoperability of our solutions.
As a key medical leader, the Medical Director will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) across data standards, knowledge representation and risk modeling, ensuring that our evidence and policy platform evolves in alignment with industry innovation and emerging clinical best practices.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the clinical and industry SME supporting solutions aimed at improving collaborations between payers and provider, including utilization management, fraud waste and abuse, population health, risk and quality
- Define and drive the clinical informatics strategy, from knowledge representations to interoperability, that advances Cohere’s evidence and policy platform
- Translate informatics insights into actionable frameworks for our strategy and policy physician teams
- Collaborate closely with data science and engineering teams to guide analytics methodology and metric definitions
- Stay abreast of evolving regulatory standards, medical ontology, and informatics trends to inform platform development
- Act as a thought partner to cross-functional leadership in the design of scalable, data-driven clinical programs
What You’ll Need
- Board certification in Clinical Informatics
- Completed US-based residency program
- Board certification as an MD or DO with a current unrestricted state license to practice medicine - must maintain necessary credentials to retain the position
- 10+ years experience beyond residency/fellowship
- 5+ years of experience applying clinical informatics to healthcare data, quality improvement, or population health use cases
- Deep understanding of medical terminologies and ontologies (e.g., SNOMED, LOINC, RxNORM, UMLS), interoperability standards (e.g., FHIR, HL7), risk models, and quality measurement frameworks
- Track record of driving data-driven decision making in clinically complex use cases
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to communicate clinical concepts effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A passion for using data and evidence to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes

The salary range for this position is $300,000 to $325,000 annually; as part of a total benefits package which includes health insurance, 401k and bonus. In accordance with state applicable laws, Cohere is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and internal alignment.
