As a Mechanic Express Specialist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of repairs in order to keep U-Haul Company’s fleet performing to our high standards. As a U-Haul Mechanical Express Specialist, you will use U-Haul Company’s proprietary technology to assess and care for field vehicles. U-Haul provides the support and tools you need to succeed and grow, so if you want a job with endless opportunities for career growth, apply today! 

Mechanic Primary Responsibilities:

  • Repair equipment using appropriate tools to conform to U-Haul standards.
  • Effectively follow work-order directions.
  • Perform work in a timely manner.
  • Determine the causes of operating errors and decide what to do about them.
  • Clearly identify and professionally express issues in positive or negative situations.
  • Continued U-Haul equipment education is required.
  • Team Members are expected to willingly lend assistance in additional areas as necessary, following the directives and guidance of their supervisor.

Mechanic Minimum Qualifications:

  • Computer skills - must be able to operate Windows based systems and follow electronic inspection checklists
  • Has own mechanic's toolset and toolbox
  • Willingness and ability to work 40 hours per week; 7am to 4pm Monday through Friday
  • Positive attitude
  • Ability to work in fast-paced team environment
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools
  • Understanding of automotive/trailer mechanics
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a clean driving record

Work Environment: 

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, loud noises, fumes, or chemicals. You will be required to use protective clothing or gear such as safety toe footwear, masks, goggles, gloves, ear plugs, or shields. 

Physical Demands: 

The work requires physical exertion, such as long periods both indoors and outdoors while remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving a minimum of 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted.
