Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a PR & Communications Manager to support Thought Leadership and Corporate Communications within Chewy’s PR function. The ideal candidate will be a passionate storyteller who is experienced in developing communications strategies for brands and executives with proven media relations skills. This person should also be proficient in digital and social media, with an understanding of how to use those platforms to create and amplify content. This position reports to the Associate Director, Communications and PR and is based in Dania Beach, FL or Boston, MA.


What You'll Do:

Thought Leadership Projects 75%

  • Support brand and executive thought leadership efforts, including strategic recommendations, media research, materials development and ongoing, autonomous project management. Focus areas likely to include:
    • Conferences & Speaking Opportunities
      • Research, identify and vet opportunities of interest.
      • Manage ongoing calendar/tracker reflecting quarterly and annual priorities.
      • Develop supporting materials, such as briefing books, talking points and bios.
      • Assist with media relations and amplification strategy, including pre-, during and post-event activity across shared and owned channels.
    • Awards
      • Research, identify and vet opportunities of interest.
      • Manage ongoing calendar/tracker reflecting quarterly and annual priorities.
      • Develop written applications and manage submission process.
      • Collaborate across teams to develop and edit materials as needed, including liasing with external agency partners.
      • Assist with promotion planning and amplification across owned and shared channels as appropriate.
    • Social Media & Community Management
      • Assist with managing social media channels for select executives, including Twitter and LinkedIn.
      • Assist with content development, review and approvals process, and maintaining monthly content calendar.
      • Monitor for ongoing opportunities to insert Chewy and key executives into broader business, industry and cultural conversations.
      • Identify new follower cohorts and optimize engagement with existing audiences.
      • Participate in ongoing strategy work, presentation experience a plus.

Corporate Communications Projects (25%)

  • Partner directly with key cross functional partners to help craft inspiring, engaging, and effective messages relating to the Chewy brand and key executives.
  • Assist with reviewing internal communications as needed (e.g. Chewy News and CEO Corner content).
  • Support regional and healthcare communications efforts in conjunction with major business, product, services or facilities announcements, to include drafting communication materials, media outreach, community relations and event support.

General

  • Upholds brand guidelines
  • Capacity to work and react quickly in fast paced e-commerce environment, which may involve working evenings and weekends.
  • Develop messaging on nuanced topics that span Chewy, business innovation and the pet sector.
  • Have the ability to quickly and cogently digest information across varied topics quickly and effectively, meeting tight deadlines across multiple projects.
  • Partner effectively with internal teams. Develop relationships with key stakeholders across every part of our portfolio, including teams in Brand Marketing, Social, Creative, Healthcare, and Product, among other Business Units.


What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience; concentration in communications, marketing, business, or related field of study preferred.
  • Minimum 4-6 years’ experience in PR agency or corporate capacity.
  • Strong understanding of communications strategies; ability to think strategically and help build plans that have a measurable impact on the business.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and writing skills, with demonstrated abilities to communicate effectively (written and oral) with all types of colleagues and external partners.
  • Ability to influence and build effective relationships with leaders.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and lead efforts across disciplines.
  • Ability to respond to time sensitive requests.
  • Solid organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently and with little oversight.
  • Notable attention to detail and accuracy; high level of commitment to exceptional work quality.
  • Demonstrated capacity to be highly creative, analytical, and data-driven at same time.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, continuously changing, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Deep knowledge of multiple types of communications mediums (website, videos, email, etc.).
  • Occasional travel to other Chewy offices and Fulfillment Centers as needed (5-10%).


Bonus

Experience in the following:

  • Operating within SharePoint or similar communications platforms.
  • Understanding and passion for digital social media, including content development and/or community management.
  • Managing logistics for events, from company meetings to customer and media-facing activations.
