RESPONSIBILITIES

DraftKings Communications team is growing rapidly and is looking for a smart and proactive Media Relations Associate in Boston. As a member of the Corporate Communications Department, this Associate will play a crucial role in assisting with day-to-day media outreach and responsible for helping to generate positive consumer media coverage for DraftKings that delivers on brand messaging and objectives.

The Associate will proactively build strong relationships with sports, tech, consumer and gaming media, draft pitches and help drive the earned media coverage in collaboration with the Senior Associate, Specialist and Manager of Public Relations. Specifically, she / he will:

• Begin building relationships with consumer, tech and sports (traditional and fantasy) reporters – both nationally and internationally, to garner a steady stream of media coverage, year-round.
• Partner with members of the Communications team on various strategic projects and initiatives, as well as day-to-day operations.
• Help draft DFS and SB related pitches.
• Research ongoing opportunities for executive visibility and industry awards.
• Maintain detailed press lists.
• Manage editorial calendar with long lead times.
• Track press hits.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Key attributes include: quick thinker, results-oriented, lover of words, sports and technology, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, detail oriented, collaborative, creative, resourceful, well organized, confident, patient, flexible and enthusiastic.
• 1-2 years total experience directly in sport, consumer and tech media relations and holds a degree in communications, media or a related field.
• Charismatic communicator with passion for developing deep relationships with a wide range of media and influencers.
• Wants to be masterful pitcher who enjoys the give and take of pitching reporters.
• Passion for and understanding of the national and international sports circuit.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Digital communications understanding and experience, including metrics analysis.
• Approaches everything with drive, urgency and energy.
• Ability to work well under pressure, achieve results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
